SBS eyes in-house sales team

SBS and its sales representatives are said to be considering new models of managing its sales operations.

sbs-brand3SBS is considering moving its third party sales representative to  in-house sales.

Director of commercial affairs, Richard Finlayson, said it is still considering its options, but that the possibility of bringing sales in house was definitely on the cards.

“SBS indicated publicly last year that it was examining a range of options relating to its television and online sales function as a result of its contract with Stenmark nearing conclusion,” Finlayson told B&T.

“Nothing has been finalised but any change to the current sales arrangements will be done with the full cooperation and support of Stenmark and to the mutual benefit of both companies.”

SBS managing director Shaun Brown reiterated that no deal had been done as yet.

“SBS and Stenmark have been considering a model that would result in Stenmark’s Sydney and Melbourne sales team moving in-house,” Brown said.

“We have a highly successful relationship with The Stenmark Organisation which has produced significant increases in our revenue over the past three years and that relationship will continue.

  1. This is part of the problem with SBS. The only innovations for the last year have been about advertising. The f****d up their format with advertising breaks forced into movies. They cut long running programs and sucked the guts out of others. the emphasis seems to be on busines model rather than substatual output of quality program. The whole mess has been a restructure of a perfectly good model that innovated and was a real viewing alternative. The management has gone against the wishes of the public that appreciated SBS’s public broadcaster with advertsing model.

The Company is now set up like Telstra with a complaints process that directs your views to a black hole. I watched movies last year that not only had advertising breaks but a voice over in the credits. They never did this in their decades of existence. 2001 A Space Odycey is one of the most beutiful films ever made with a fantastic and iconic musical score. They spoiled the end of the film with an intrusive voiseover for “This film being available at Dymocks and JB Hi-Fi”. I would have to go to JB or Dymocks to see the film un messed with. What an alful machine it now is becoming. Sack the board. Its a bunch of New Zealand proffiteers dressed up in public broadcaster clothing.

Every peice of news is about marketting with this station now.
