Prison Break in confinement

You've been wondering, right? Seven plans on returning Prison Break after Lost concludes.

pbreakSome readers have been asking about the return of Prison Break on Seven.

The final batch of episodes will return in the US in just over ten days time, bringing the four series to a final conclusion.

TV Tonight understands Seven won’t be fastracking the episodes to screen, planning to program the drama in the Wednesday 10:30pm slot after Lost finishes.

Lost is expected to conclude late May.

There are six remaining hours of  Prison Break.

  1. ew ~ this is terrific news. i love PB! i’m glad 7 is showing through right to the end (like they did with apprentice UK … it seems 7, unlike some others (*cough* 9 *cough*) are at least committed to showing programs out, even if it means they end up all kinds of weird places (if i’m wrong, happy to stand corrected – but that’s been my experience with the shows i follow, at least).

that said i do have a qn: how do the networks get these shows???? are they picked up via sateliite (ie, they have international feed of US network broadcasts … n just tape and playback under licence?) or they come through as actual programs (ie, digital libraries of the particular series).

um, while i’m at it – anyone know what what happened in the days before digital? e.g., 80s series like who’s the boss, cosby show, etc — i’m assuming there were actual physical copies that they’d purchase and have shipped over?

um – sorry if these are dumb qns, but ‘fast tracking’ has got me wondering. . . thx.

  2. They aren’t playing a double episode season return, Burt – Fox only programs 2 hours in primetime (except Sunday), and the second hour is Dollhouse. For the finale although, it is very much a possibility.

  3. The first of the final batch of PB show’s episodes is a double episode and the final episode is a double episode also. You can easily watch this US show
and all others commercial free online, on several online viewing sites.

  4. I don’t even care about the final 6 eps, I’ll probably just read the synopsis on wikipedia, season 4 started out decent but became awful as time went on. And the twist with Michael’s mother being alive and a villain was super lame

  5. That makes sence. I actually thought that Prison Break returning after Lost’s season finished would be a good fit. Most people I know who watch Lost, also watch Prison Break.

  6. that was the non-ratings season though and people were busy with christmas and new years. if 7 advertise it and let people know these are the last episodes ever i have no doubt it can get around 400k

  7. @leeds, “Prison Break will rate aroung 400-450k on a wednesday at 10.30.”

    ur the one talking rubbish.
    the most recent PB eps:
    Dec16: 328k
    Dec17: 310k
    xmas
    Dec30: 372k
    Dec31: 295k
    Jan6: 350k
    Jan7: 305k

yes, i think 7 can do better.

  8. Don’t Lost and PB pull roughly similar figures??? PB’s last episode earned more viewers in the first week of January than Lost’s latest episode did last week. Lost probably outrates PB, but if we’re going to call PB’s ratings “dismal”, then Lost surely has to be in the same category.

  9. Why is it sad Lost is finishing? Its the Season Finale, its not like Seven are yanking it mid-season. I’m just disappointed that it couldn’t air sooner – isn’t the 1030 Tuesday lost up for grabs soon with Eli Stone wrapping up.

I can’t be too annoyed at Seven though, at least they commit to these shows.

I’d love to see Season 2 of Lipstick Jungle though. Maybe in the 1130 timeslot once Carpoolers is done on Tuesday nights, it could’ve taken over from Dirty Sexy Money.

  10. Although not ideal, I’m glad Seven is airing them soonish. It gives me something good to watch after lost has gone, but, I’m not looking forward to lost finishing (i wish it could go on forever it’s sooo good!).

  11. thats a pretty prime slot for a show that is on death row, pun intended.

especially for wednesday, while TGYH is on this is really gonna pull down their nightly share. I think it would be smart for them to put a comedy rerun at 10:30 and have this follow at 11:00.

but this has obviously been done for the fans not the ratings.

  12. if this is the series final episodes and there’s only 6 shouldn’t it go to summer NRP. i can think of so many shows that deserve that slot more and will rate better.

but i guess it will be a good feeling for 7 when they can just wash their hands of this show and be done with it. you can tell it has been a real chore for them to slot this in and keep up to date over the years the rating have been terrible.

so i guess that’s heroes and PB down, now for las vegas, the unit, ugly betty and lipstick jungle then all their low raters will be gone.

  13. well this was one show that was screaming summer timeslot. i mean 6 eps fit into summer perfectly and it is the series finale. series finales of low rating shows in ratings periods are just about unheard of these days.

ratings wise, this is not a good decision by ch7 IMO
but i’m sure some fans will be happy getting it so soon.

  14. great can’t wait. i wasn’t expecting this till summer. i wasn’t expecting it at 10:30 either. i though this was a definite 11:00er. didn’t they want to put it there last year after scrubs on a thursday last year.

and this is strange to have such a long term announcement. i can understand with TGYH the long term announcement because they needed to put it on billboards. but this is unusual
