At the Movies: Cannes Film Festival

It's the annual jaunt as David Stratton visits Cannes and chat with Pedro Almodovar, Francis Ford Coppola amd Aussie winner Warwick Thornton.

warwick-thorntonTonight on At the Movies, David Stratton reports from the Cannes Film Festival, where he has interviews with:

– Director Pete Docter, and John Lasseter from Disney/Pixar’s opening night film Up.

– Francis Ford Coppola about his opening night film of Directors Fortnight – Tetro.

– Bahman Ghobadi producer/director of No One Knows About Persian Cats about Tehran’s underground Indie rock scene.

– Lars Von Triers discussion- Scott Foundas (Variety reviewer) and David Stratton discuss the most controversial film of the festival Antichrist plus interviews with Lars and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

– Pedro Almodovar for his film Broken Embraces.

Plus there’s an Australian Package – Red Carpet arrivals and interviews with Jane Campion, Abbie Cornish, and Ben Whishaw for Bright Star; and Vox Pops from outside the Debussy as people come out of Samson and Delilah– and short chat with director Warwick Thornton (pictured) straight after the screening.

Samson and Delilah won a prestigious Camera d’Or for Thornton’s directorial debut. The ABC will also screen the film later this year.

It airs at 10pm tonight on ABC1.
