Re-designing promotions

Look carefully at what you see. Nine's promos for its renovation series shows scenes from both Sunday & Tuesday episodes.

hm“They’re talented, controversial, and will do anything to prove they’re Australia’s best designer,” says a promo for homeMADE.

Nine promos might also do anything to prove the show is worth watching too, with an advertisement that shows scenes from not only Sunday, but Tuesday’s episode as well.

Presuming Nine hasn’t re-edited its episodes, the elimination segment of the next round actually happens in Tuesday’s episode.

While the word “Tuesday” does appear on the ad, viewers would be mistaken if they presumed all the scenes they see are in Sunday’s episode.

Is Nine trying to find ways to repackage the drama of homeMADE?

If so, maybe it could consider eliminating half the content into one weekly episode too?

  1. I love this show, I hope Nine don’t axe it, they seen to give up very quickly maybe play around with the timeslot. But its every bit as good as The Block if not better, and where can I sign up to get my house done.

  2. i hope this show does not get cut of ..this show is the best please keep this show ch 9 please !!! ? and i am going 2 keep on watchin go homemade 🙂

  3. I’m going to watch again this week – the content appeals to me, probably because I’m in the middle renovating my home! But i’m also impressed by what they can do for 50k – the end results were pretty impressive.

  4. Like I said before, if 9 drop it, there will be no faith left in ch 9 to launch a show again as noone will give anything a go on 9 knowing it will be dropped or bumped. I think (other than over promotion) this is one of the problems with HomeMADE as 9 has had more flops than successes now.

They should stick to it, and agree that one hour a week would do (like the block was – and look how successful that was).

  5. Look Homemade is salvagable.

The Tuesday episode should be scrapped and the two episodes just made one to trim the boring parts.

When I watched the Sunday episode last week and then it abruptly ended without resolving anything I did feel cheated being told I had to come back Tuesday… pass. It’s wasn’t *that* good.

  6. This is quite normal. The show is brand new – Nine is still promoting the seriesas a whole, not just the episode that will air Sunday. That means sourcing shots and scenes from the entire series, not just one episode.

Explosions, car chases, gun battle etc are often stolen from past or future episodes of a series to promote a show, even though the ‘tune in’ information may be day specific. This is not unique to Nine or Homemade. They are not doing anything devious or out of the ordinary here.

Promos – Their job is to make HomeMade look as good as possible, and drive viewership – not tell a linear story of the show.

Likewise movie trailers often feature shots, and dialougue that never makes it in the movie!
