Snakes on a Cane

Get a load of this promo shot for House season six. Hugh Laurie all wrapped up with pythons.

soacWell they’re supposedly real pythons wrapped around Hugh Laurie here, which is pretty hard to, umm, swallow.

The promo shot for the sixth season of House features the doc with snakes forming a caduceus.

Executive producer Katie Jacobs said,“I remember Hugh asking the snake wrangler if the snakes had names.

“He replied, ‘No, because they don’t come when you call.’”

It’s a neat idea, but Hugh looks rather too relaxed and the snakes look just about perfect.  Besides what network in its right mind would let this fly? It wouldn’t even hold up under its insurance policy. “Yes we put our star actor in the middle of two living pythons and something went wrong, please pay up.”

Anyway it’s a great look, and is accompanied by the phrase, “Incurably Himself.”

Indeed…

  1. You’d think for a show full of research (albeit medical), they would check wikipedia once in a while:

“The caduceus is sometimes erroneously used as a symbol for medicine, especially in North America, due to confusion with the traditional medical symbol, the rod of Asclepius, which has only a single snake and no wings.”
    Oh well.
