Margaret and David’s annual look at holiday movies, At The Movies: Summer Special, will air on Sunday December 6 at 6pm on ABC1.
NOWHERE BOY – the biopic of John Lennon’s early life directed by UK visual artist Sam Taylor-Wood.
BROKEN EMBRACES – the latest Pedro Almodovar starring Penelope Cruz – plus interview with Pedro Almodovar.
BRIGHT STAR – biopic of John Keats and Fanny Braun ( Abbie Cornish), and directed by Jane Campion – plus interview with Jane, Abbie and Ben Whishaw.
THE ROAD – adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, starring Viggo Mortensen, Kodi Smidt McPhee, directed by Australian filmmaker John Hillcoat – plus interview with Viggo, Kodi and John Hillcoat.
FANTASTIC MR FOX – stop-motion animation based on Roald Dahl book, directed by Wes Anderson and voiced by George Clooney, Meryl Streep , Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman.
UP IN THE AIR – comedy starring George Clooney, Vera Farmiga and Jason Bateman, directed by Jason Reitman (Juno).
THE FRENCH KISSERS – French teen comedy in the style of American Pie, screened at Cannes.
BRAN NUE DAY – Rachel Perkins’ musical set in 1960s Australia, starring Geoffrey Rush, Ernie Dingo, Magda Szubanski and Deb Mailman.

Bran Nue Dae is the feel-good Australian film of the year – having seen in screen at MIFF earlier this year I can’t wait to see it again – and I hope it goes gangbusters at the box office!
