Former Essendon footballer Matthew Lloyd has joined TEN’s AFL commentary team.
Lloyd had already made several appearances on sports panel show One Week At A Time on ONE as well as on FOX Sports.
Executive Producer of AFL, David Barham said, “He is opinionated, direct and not afraid to call it as he sees it and we think he will prove to be an outstanding expert commentator. We are delighted he will be joining us,” Barham said.
Matthew Lloyd said, “For the past two to three years I have been thinking about what I wanted to do when I finished playing and I’m really excited to now be able to share my thoughts and opinions on the game with the fans on a regular basis.
“I won’t be passing comment in order to make headlines but I’m not afraid to express my views on the game and give some inside knowledge to those who love watching it.”
Meanwhile Nine has dropped former Carlton player Brendan Fevola from its Footy Show line-up following last year’s Brownlow Medal disgrace.

Brendon Fevola will eventually be the next tv star if given the opportunity to lead a football show. When he talks people listen, he is entertainment personified. The question remains which network has the vision to sign him up soon.
Fantastic add to the Ten/One AFL brand. I remember Lloyd was very good in his in play analysis of games he called while out with injury. Much better than many other special commentors.
Nice work Ten.
Lllooddyy!
champion. monotone voice aside, he knows what he’s talking about! and that’s all i want when listening to footy commentry.
i think Kellie is a great caller
and they are going to have kellie underwood commentating in 8 games next year as well. she is terrible. god 10 makes alot of bad decisions
Agreed, very dull speaker.Bloody hell we could have Ten game’s with Robert Walls and Matthew Lloyd commentating, urgghh.
At least he won’t slur his words callas – bland as they are
time to mute the tv when he is calling… the blandest of bland… the dullest of dull.
