Morning news for TEN?

The latest speculation on TEN's plans for its morning schedule tip a one hour News service from 9 - 10am.

ten news2The latest speculation on TEN’s plans to its morning schedule tip a one hour News service from 9am – 10am followed by an infomercial session from 10am (can’t hardly wait for that one).

Rumours persist that Kim Watkins and producer Sandy Patterson were given notice on Thursday but TEN is yet to make any announcement.

TEN’s style is often to release such information late on a Friday afternoon, when there is less time to have it reported and dissected.

But nothing came through yesterday.

According to TEN guides 9AM with David and Kim continues in the week of December 6th.

  1. For me, I’d like to see Ten News at 9am as ABC2 is about to cut their 9am news hour for more bloody kids programming. I’m sure TEN won’t leave their 6am or 11am offerings alone, so I don’t think it’s going to be “more” news, just shifted news.

As for the infomercials; I don’t see the fuss because that’s all ‘9AM with David and Kim’ was anyway. They’ll just be taking all the advertorial segments from ‘9AM’ (which probably added up to an hour) & repackage them into a one hour program. What’s the problem with that?

  2. I think Channel Ten should bring back Aerobics Oz Style. There are no other fitness shows on FTA, and this country have lots of overweight people to take care of.

  3. It will be a very sad day indeed if 9am leaves our screens. I adore the show and watch it at every opportunity. My day just doesn’t feel right without it.

  4. No what I would like to see once Oprah Goes is a Return back to Family Friendly and Childrens Television between the hours of 4 and 5pm like what we had in the Eighties and First Half of the Nineties and the Bold and the Beautiful Go back to the old Lunchtime Timeslot at 1pm.
An Ideal News Set Up would be a 5pm nightly,7pm Project on weeknights for those of us who can’t be home earlier for the main bulletins and late night news also on weeknights.
How about Dropping Dr Phil and Give Kim her own lunchtime show. How many of us want to see a talkshow that has no relevance to Australians whatsoever.

  5. Why not move The Bold And The Beautiful (have a double episode) to 9am (not original I know) but at least different to morning chat shows and news. Ps.If this has been said before I’m sorry.

  6. Having this, only will weaken the Early News.

If I were Ten, I’d be investigating shafting Early News, and re-instating a 1&1/2 hour Toasted TV from 6:30 to 8am, followed by Totally Wild then their preschool product.

Same with 11am, in fact I am suggesting a merger between the Early News and the 11am bulletin, to provide the 9am news with a bigger choice of presenters.

Ten has to prepare for a post-Oprah future, by considering fast-tracking Oprah, to match Nine’s consistancy with Ellen.

  7. It will be a sad day to see Watkins moved on… she is far a greater news person than variety….. maybe her old Seven can pick her back up…… She would do very well on 7PM… she has the capabilities to host and further the program!

  8. Why does Stephen Quatermaine take the place of David Reyne, I think Stephen brought more to the show then David Reyne. Kim and Stephen have a chemistry and the 9am show is so much more better then the other Morning Shows. Ten really should not axe it. Tweek it a bit, new host might just be the injection it needs.

  9. David & Kim kept me sane and away from KAK and Morning Show.
Please channel 10 do the right thing, give us Kim with her own show or a totally different format between 9 and midday.
    P.S. no more informercials

  10. I’m happy about a 1 hour bulletin at 9AM, but infomercials at 10? How it’s even legal to play infomercials during the day (or the night) I don’t know.

  11. I wouldn’t put it past Ten to have 90 minutes or even 2 1/2 hours of news, interspersed with advertorials, but they’ll make themselves look totally
ridiculous in the process. It’d be interesting knowing who even buys the garbage
sold by these advertorials on the 9 am shows on 7, 9 and 10 and why the ABA doesn’t ban the broadcast of them, as TV content. They must be making money, to be able to afford to pay (10, 9 and 7) 10 grand or close to it, whenever their advertorial segment is aired.

  12. i think it is time for a new direction from channels, they could do a form of block programming that has proved so good for go, replay lastnights prime time shows for two hours, i think that would get more viewers then an infomercial and news two hour period.

shame channel’s here have lost the plot, how do you get a job in programming? it seems pretty easy these days,

  13. Having the Morning News at 9am (instead of 11am where it is now) is a good idea. But infomercials at 10? Seriously, Ten, just think with your brains for once! Maybe a variety / talk show at 10 until Midday might help them? Maybe?

  14. The latest I heard was that the show was going ahead next year, with a new name and new male cohost. One of the producers was marched out the door though.
All this happened over a week ago so who knows now…

  15. great, just what we need, more news, why not have a fkn 24 hr news channel for god sake!! having the news at 9am will not get me out of bed unlike 9am did every morning.

  16. Yes we need more news, definately.
I hope Kim stays & yes shake up the format a little, bring back Adam Richards & even a musical director sans GMA with Bert.
    But please no more news.
