Doctor Who: The End of Time: trailer

It's anyone's guess the way the road will turn for The Doctor in the first of the two-part finale.

dwAfter last night’s curious ending to “The Waters of Mars” it’s anyone’s guess the way the road will turn for The Doctor in the first of the two-part finale, airing in the UK on Christmas Day and wrapping on New Year’s Day.

Here’s a look at what’s in store for “The End of Time”, with the return of John Simm as The Master and there’s a string of familiar faces coming too. No airdate for Oz yet….

  1. Matt Smith will do fine because the BBC now know what they are doing but are also guilty of losing most of Dr 1’s and 2’s earlier stories.
Why not make a few cartoon specials of all lost stories and hire David Troughton to do Patrick’s voice and a great voice actor to play William Hartnell or use the left over audios.
Colin Baker did ok because he followed four great actors in Troughton’Pertwee’Tom Baker and Peter Davison and our grumpy old man in the delightful Bill Hartnell and yes he should have worn basic black with say a light green shirt with just a hint of tartan on the lapels or lower forearms like ‘The Fly’ scientist.

  2. I’ve heard mixed views on the first part of this 2 parter called ‘The End Of Time.

So this plot is not out of line with past Doctors and yes I even like a few Colin Baker’s stories but he was unfairly dealt with concerning his bad taste costume’he would have been better in black.
So magic potions have popped up in Who history and the Nerds should get off their high horses and let a new generation of fans to follow the Moffatian era of the 11 th incarnation of our favourite Timelord.

  3. ozboy1999, are you talking about the “Waters of Mars” special? I don’t know if they are repeating it on ABC2, but you can watch it on iView abc.net.au/iview/#/view/479784

  4. You would think the BBC would want to speed up their delivery to the ABC, considering that every hour they delay it costs them international viewers.

Really, it is simple. The episode airs in the UK early Boxing Day morning (Aus time). If the BBC get the episode to the ABC so that the ABC can air it Boxing Day evening, a huge amount of people will watch it on ABC, and only a small handful will use Channel BT. That is good for both the ABC and BBC.
But if the BBC get it to the ABC to that the ABC can’t air it until a few weeks/months later, only a small amount of people will watch it on ABC, because a huge amount will have already watched it via Channel BT. That is bad for both the ABC and BBC.

  5. ABC better announce an air date before boxing day, and it better be airing soon after xmas, i dont care about HD, SD will be just fine (ill probably only watch it on iView anyway).

  6. Greg, I think you’re in a very small group of Catherine Tate haters…everyone I know loved her (and going by DWM polls, so did most of the viewers/fans), and I personally think she was the best companion ever. I’ll be overjoyed to see her again…hopefully they can deal with the mind-wipe thing and give her a happy ending, because what the Doctor took from her was worse than killing her off I think.

Well you’d have hated Adelaide as a companion because she’s the oldest one ever.

  7. It will have to be better than Mars, which despite a few poignant moments was one of the revived series’ weakest episodes – especially as a stand-alone special.

  8. they’re bringing back catherine tait? she was the most annoying assistant the world has ever seen, not to mention she was too old for the role, i know the poms love her fro sum reason but she best not comeback

  9. You should see the Christmas trails filmed especially with the Tenth Doctor, the TARDIS sleigh and reindeer …they look fantastic, especially the longest one. Puts a massive smile on the face.

  10. The trailer looks great.

And more news the final is broken into 2 parts, xMas then a week later for the 2nd part which is set to be 76mins long (without ads) from what I’ve read.

I really hope ABC can air the final ASAP as we know a bulk of the fans are unlikely to wait a few days, let-along a few weeks to see them.
