Bumped: ER, Gossip Girl

GO! flips ER and Gossip Girl timeslots on Thursday nights.

Last night GO! resumed ER at 10:30pm, bringing the drama back for fans who had been lamenting the show’s absence.

Today it announced it would shift the show to 9:30pm, pushing Gossip Girl, which is now in its second series, out to 10:30pm.

Replays will take place at 2am / 3am.

The switcheroo takes effect next week.

  1. Everyone as seen Gossip Girl Season 1 & 2, It’s out on DVD and maybe thats why ratings are not boosting up. GO should just bring Season 3 on and ratings will boost up in seconds.

  2. @ Craig ……… it will hold its ratings! its a well produced show… it out rated ER and Gossip girl… so really its at 8.30 because of that! nothing else! the fact it’s a new show has Nothing to do that its on at 8.30…
8.30 is the prime time time slot……
ive seen up coming ep’s and its a good show.. it will find it legs and it will continue to run on GO!

  3. Rachael (12:42am) & others,

Have you people ever heard of a *casual* viewer? Not everyone are ‘die-hard’ fans & jump on the ‘Net to illegally download a program immediately after it airs in its host country. We just don’t know how many people become fans of a particular show by channel surfing or scanning the TV guide for highlights. I’m sure even old shows like ‘Blackadder’ are currently getting a new legion of fans through its repeat screenings on GO!

Have you ‘fans’ ever stopped to think that you’re killing your own favourite shows by illegally downloading everything? Apart from your local ISPs, who else makes money from your selfish viewing habits? If no-one is making any money, then why should they continue producing these shows?

Six months to a year in not a long time for a TV drama! Sorry to break it you, but ‘Gossip Girl’ isn’t a news bulletin. It’ll still look & sound the same in a years’ time.

  4. @vid (vid_88?) I hope you’re right about BB. Perhaps, to avoid the potential over saturation of their schedule, and possible viewer backlash, they could spread BB over onto their rumoured 3rd channel for all the BB junkies… That would be sweet. I’d especially support BB UpLate coming back with Mikey G 🙂

  5. The main reason Side Order of Life is on at 8:30 is it’s new, even though it’s been sitting on the Nine/GO! shelves since July 2007, some 30 months. That’s longer than the ER or GG eps last Thursday.

I suspect it will not hold it’s ratings, so maybe in the coming weeks they will shuffle the line up again?

  6. side order of life out rated ER and gossip girl…. thats why its on at 8.30pm….

and at richoTB GO! is not hopeless…. how can they be.. all networks are changing their programs around.. they have every right too… its all about ratings…i do believe they shouldnt do it as much as they are doing now.
i think its funny that u say horrible programming!! most of the shows u said and very good programs. thats over 60% hahaha

TEN…they are in so much trouble this year…I think Big brother will come back to our screens this year!

  7. I agree with Bella. 8.30 ER, 9.30 GG and 10.30 that other show i have no interest in seeing. And ocourse 8.30 Thursdays would bring ER back to the timeslot it held for years.

  8. @ Craig: exactly! fta’s seem to think that people are just going to wait around for years for a show that might or might not air, rather than seek it elsewhere.

  9. Go! are hopeless.

They may as well axe the crappy channel, its almost as bad as Nine now with the schedule changes and horrible quality of programming. The only decent shows are Seinfeld, The Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl. So much for a youth oriented network.

  10. I think they should put ER on at 8:30pm, Gossip Girl at 9:30pm and Side Order on at 10:30pm.

Though I do agree that they’ve left it too late with S2 of Gossip Girl. When the DVD’s were first released some stores had them at a good price and they’ve been on sale since then.

  11. I don’t know why they even bother with Gossip Girl. Season 1 & 2 are both out on DVD. Those who wanted to watch it would have done so already.
Nine (and those other FTA channels for that matter) need to really consider fast tracking most of their shows if they want decent ratings. Most people (including myself) aren’t that patient when it comes to new shows and we don’t want to wait 6 months (sometimes even longer) before the show finally airs here. It’s just too easy to log onto the internet and do what we have to do to get those shows that we are so desperate to watch.

  12. It is bad when they move shows around like this in the non-ratings period on a second channel. Given the fact both shows have been sitting on the Nine/GO! shelves for more than a year (16 months GG and 25 months for ER) many people would have given up on them or in the case of Gossip seen it already on Fox8.

  13. I would actually prefer ER at 9.30, as 10.30 is too long to wait around for with nothing at 9.30 – last night I recorded it, but at 9.30 i’ll be able to watch it. good move :d

  14. Most people who want to watch Gossip Girl would have downloaded it by now I imagine and be up to date, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the ratings were bad for GG

  15. I thought GO did well last night considering it was a Thursday and Thursday is usually it weakest day in the ratings. It got a 3.5% share compared to 7two 3.3% so why change things?
