US website CinemaSpy is confirming Supernatural has been renewed for a sixth season.
Although the CW Network hs not yet made any announcements, a renewal has been tipped for some time.
Creator Eric Kripke has recently said “I’m looking at this season as the last chapter in this particular story. That doesn’t mean there can’t be a new story.”
The website also recently reported a tenth season for Smallville.
“…industry insiders have pointed out to CinemaSpy that Smallville, Supernatural and Gossip Girl are the lynchpins of The CW’s scripted line-up. Without those shows, the argument goes, the network effectively ceases to exist,” it notes.
TEN recently removed Supernatural from its schedule, much to the outrage of longtime fans.
Meanwhile last week NBC also picked up more episodes of Trauma, Community and Parks & Recreation. Trauma was actually cancelled at 13 episodes before being given a second lease on life.

I would really like to know what station supernatural comes on because i am a huge fan of the show.it’s saying that it’s not coming on station 16 no more. That is the only station i get to watch SuperNatural on.
channel ten is bulls**t ive been watchin supernatural since it started its gotten better and better its crap that they took it off its there worst mistake ever. people will get pi** off and do something (funny i hope)but i heard of that cw channel is it pay tv?.i will never get chanel ten but if any body knows when it will come back on put it up because im gettin pi** off haha…………
Any station that doesn’t play this show is no friend of mine! They are stupid and have no taste as far as what’s good on Tv. This is a kick ass show! I’ve met Jared Padalecki and he’s a very cool nice guy! I just wrote a book about him and you can ask questions about it. Congratulations to the cast of Supernatural for season 6. May there be a season 7 too!
Yesssss!!!! i am so ecstatic that there is going to be a season 6! i was getting worried about the whole 5 season plan but yay! eric kripke!
Yay for season 6….. boo for channel ten for not airing it atm… I am seriously not watching anything on TV…. Yes Sn kicks ass and takes names but even the other shows i watch that are far far far far far far far more inferior to this one aren’t on…. zzzzzzz. Gimme something seriously, or i’m going to very lamely imitate sam and deans bad ass fighting and take it to studios. Watch this space. LOL.. sorry i had too many purple nurples…Bring it back b******
If Channel Ten have zero intention of airing the rest season 5 of Supernatural, what hope do we have of getting season 6?? Pity some other Aussie tv station wouldn’t pick up this rivetting show so we could just ditch Channel Ten. Channel Ten need to do their research and see the the climbing ratings and accolades Supernatural is receiving worldwide – from media reviewers as well as loyal fans. Channel Ten’s lackluster approach to promoting this show and airing it consistently won’t lose Supernatural viewers – we just get it elsewhere. Rather it will lose Channel Ten it’s veiwers. Did the PTB over on Ten really think we’d remain loyal to them and happily watch 87th repeats of dated shows and movies?!?!
Tv Magazine has kick started a campaign for all Aussie “Supernatural” fans to send in numerous postcards to their state’s Ch 10 stations, to have these words written on the postcard –
“Where is Supernatural?.”
This is to australia’s approach to how fans in the startes sent tabasco sauce & peanuts etc to tv show networks to bring their fave show back asap!.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m hoping for good news. I would love another season of Supernatural. I just hope that if/when it happens Ten will see the error of their ways and start airing it here again. Maybe if they do, I’ll find a reason to go back to watching Ten. Used to be that it was the only channel had anything decent on and the only one I watched. Now I barely turn the TV on for anything except to watch a DVD, a couple of Nine shows and the odd program on Freeview.
@David Knox – CinemaSpy “confirming” season 6 is only speculation on their part. I have it on very good (direct) information that The CW has not yet green-lighted *any* of its shows for another season yet. I can’t imagine The CW letting one of its highest rated shows end just yet, but we will have to wait and see.
Last year Supernatural got the nod for season 5 in late February, so here’s hoping we will hear officially soon.
Yes and no… “Today we’ve been informed that Supernatural, too, has been confirmed with another season, in this case its sixth” -CinemaSpy. Therefore they are not speculating, they are claiming outright. But I noted it has not been confirmed by CW in the story and my headline clearly notes this is all according to one report.
Thanks again TV Tonight for your interest and reporting on Supernatural in the TV world. It is such a shame Channel TEN cannot share the same enthusiasm and promote it. I loved the latest episode that aired in the US several days ago….
…cue for RichoTB to come and say that Supernatural should have been cancelled after S2…
Great news — provided Kripke will wrap up the story arc as planned initially, and start a new story.
Ten must have made a loud groan when they heard the news… They’ve been treating the show terribly. How many years will I have to wait to see the rest of S5?
Evan – actually it’s “Supernatural” that’s on the way out. It’s was losing viewers even when it was fast tracked from the states. That’s television! Unfortunately some of the best shows on the planet will just never work on free-to -air. It’s a business aimed at the majority. Scifi/ horror fans these days = minority.
@John – I absolutely agree and have suggested the “spooky” theme night on this site many times. Anything would be better than Love Actually, School of Rock, Mean Girls, About A Boy etc. Is anyone old enough to remember Deadly Ernest? That was good fun.
Ten shows two things, crime shows, or the 45th repeat in 6 months, of the same set of about 8 movies they have in their pathetic/ insulting little catalogue..about a boy, love actually, jaws 1 and 2, the die hards, billy elliot…
pathetic station and on it’s way out.
TEN are The Biggest Loser.
Shame Channel Ten won’t pick up on that news and the accolades the show receives worldwide (not just in the US).
@ John: Ten already has “theme” nights — every night except Sunday’s new lineup — crime or repeat movies. But you’re right, would be nice to be able to watch something different.
It’ll be very interesting to see where a 6th series takes Sam & Dean… I mean, after being protagonists in the war between the Angels & the Demons, where is there to go, really? Towards something anticlimactic? Hope not… :-)
Good news for the boys… I guess TEN3 will had plenty of content into the future now!
…okay time to watch a new Supernatural, sorry TEN :)
It’s a bloody good show if you like the genre.Spooky, dark & Jensen’s hilarious.Love it!Channel 10 how about a paranormal saturday line up starting with John Edwards at 7.30,Supernatural at 8.30 get hold of Most Haunted for 9.30 & a creature feature at 10.30????Or even a remake of The Extraodinary?Theme nights are great.10’s lineups are all over the place usually.
