Bondi Rescue lifesaver Kobi Graham suffered a serious neck injury while surfing in huge waves at Cape Solander in Botany Bay yesterday.
He was assisted onto a jet-ski and taken to Silver Beach at Kurnell suffering neck injuries, before being flown to Royal North Shore Hospital where he was in a stable condition.
Graham, 30, was surfing with a group of professional surfers when he was injured.
A witness told the Daily Telegraph Graham was surfing at a spot where the water literally breaks 10m in front of the cliff.
“He wiped out and nose-dived on take-off. He went over the falls and hit the roof, coming up screaming.”
The official Bondi Rescue Lifeguard Twitter feed advised on Friday: “Batten down the hatches, we r in 4 a wild & windy WE. Unless ur a very experienced surfer or swimmer u might want to stay out of the water!”
