A ‘free’ movie fortnight is coming to Foxtel next month.

  1. @ the Fonz

    No, not correctamundo.

If you have neither package, you get both for free for those 2 weeks (though apparently not the HD versions of those channels, even if you’re an HD subscriber).

Which really seems silly on Foxtel’s part. Obviously the idea behind this is to sell the movie packages to more subscribers. Anyone with HD cares about picture quality, and by providing them with movies, but only in shabby SD, they are doing the opposite. They will make us say, yuck, why would I watch this when I can go hire the blu-ray.

  2. it appears this only affects subscribers with one movie package – if you have zero movie subsciptions or full, then this story does not apply to you… correctamundo…?

  3. Lol if u already have too much money to burn on the platium package stop complaining and go to the basic package, im on the basic and will check out the movies.. people on the platium paying the extra $$ you wont miss much 😀

  4. These tight wads are unbelievable, could they not of given one extra free box office movie per week for Current Platinum subscribers.Like somebody else said, they cant squeeze any more out of you so their interest factor is zero.

  5. Yes i am a platinum HD subscriber and i agree give us something for nothing as well – even when they started the new channels everyone got them for free for 2 weeks

  6. Im a Platinum subscriber…that sucks! oh well. Give me unlimited free Box Office any day 🙂 Even though we already get 2 free movies a montrh…

  7. i agree with others it would be nice for us platinum subscribers to get a small discount i have been with foxtel for just on 10 years have 1 iq and another box and have been on platinum for 9 years come on foxtel give us a discount

  8. Thanks David, for the info- i for one will not look a gift horse in the mouth – always something to find that is either rare or classic. Better than a slap in the face with a wet fish!!!!

  9. Okay so from July 10 to July 26 I’ll change my subscription to basic only, get the free movie channels and then change back to platinum on the 26. Sweet. It will save me a bit of money.

  10. Hmmm. So why not give those people who have been faithfully paying for platinum packages a slight discount on their monthly subscriptions? Oh silly me, this is Foxtel we’re talking about.

  11. @Homer – agree 100% with you. With the ridiculous number of movie repeats (particularly on the now pathetic Movie Network package) this top-tier customer will soon be cutting back to a more basic Foxtel package.

  12. This is typical of Foxtel everything for new or low end subscribers.
They do nothing for the long term or High end subscriber.
I’ve been with them for more than 6 years, have multiple boxes and the Platinum package.
    Whats in it for me??

Nothing, never has been, never will be.
As soon as my kids leave home, I’ll dump the service.

  13. if we iq these and past the 2 weeks… do they not work or do they? do u know david? if they do work i wanna iq heaps n watch them later!! can u find out?

  14. “Current Platinum subscribers or subscribers to both the Showtime Movies and Movie Network channels are not eligible for this offer.”

In other words: “If we can’t squeeze any more out of you – if you are already a top-tier customer – then you get nothing from us.” Still, at least Foxtel is consistent…
