Seven’s catch-up TV service PLUS7 will be available through PlayStation 3 consoles in Australia from the end of August.
The announcement follows ABC’s iView being available since November.
“We are excited to be making our catch-up TV service, PLUS7, available through PS3 consoles and continuing to be at the forefront of IPTV innovation in Australia,” said Rohan Lund, CEO of Yahoo!7.
“Now, even more Australians will be able to watch full-length episodes from many of Australia’s favourite TV shows streamed over the internet using their PS3 consoles.”
The deal between Yahoo!7 and Sony does not provide for unmetered content.

not all adsl2+ connections are created equal… the whole damn point of the nbn.
Re Mikeys comment on what about the quality? There are 2 generations out there that really don’t give a rats about quality or screen size as they are perfectly happy watching their 2inch screens. Quite ironoc after the expense the networks have gone to delivering HD digital!
And yes , what about the commercials? Will local regional advertisers still be able to use this?
Optus cable, 75g/75g offpeak = 150g a month for $59.99
ADSL2+ … what are we in the 1950’s?
I don’t understand why people complain about data caps…. TPG have a plan ADSL2+ for 150gig – $49.99… even bigpond offer 50gig high speed cable for $79
Thats more than enough to watch heaps of TV and videos.
Now this may seem a little controversial, how much TV do you really want or need in your lives ???
TV isn’t everything !
Great, but “how’s the quality”? Catch up television should be at regular TV broadcast quality if it’s watched on a television.
The big question: ads?
I hope that, unlike iView, they improve the resolution. Flash video is dreadful at the best of times, but especially dreadful on a large full-HD screen.
@Mac: It’ll still be browser-based, so I wouldn’t hold out much hope for a slick interface.
CatFan I don’t have any news on Viera sorry.
That’s a very good news, at-least now we can hope for more such news, thanks to technology for providing us such a chance. The viewing through the receivers has always been something that we have obtained some HD quality and hope that the going gets better everytime.
@ Peter Good Luck is all I’ll say
Cool. Hope the interface is slightly better designed for PS3 use than iView though.
dont know what ABCKid is talking about, but all of the catchup services work very well with my ADSL2+ connection. Maybe its just your computer….
Good news, now we just need Optus or Telstra to sign up for unmetered access to these services.
Excellent news.
I don’t think a deal with Yahoo and Sony would do anything anyway, it would be a deal with Yahoo and an ISP, as it’s not Sony’s content.
Now we need to get Ten’s and SBS’s ones too, If Nine could somehow reduce their 900mb per hour streaming into something a bit more in line with ABC’s it would be great. But currently it’s metered and it’s just a waste of my download quota, and it’s video quality is sub par too.
It would be awesome if Sony could get Fetch TV or something.
Now if only ISPs would add it to their quoter free list like iView… but if it’s slow on ADSL2+ then I might wait for the NBN to get built, assuming Labor is still in power next week.
Plus7 has got to be the worst catch up serves out of all the tv stations! iv got ADSL2+ and it is still soooo slow to load.. how is this ganna work on ps3 if it cant even load on a computer!!
Great news! I love IView Don’t use it all the time but its great for when I’m bored and want to catch up on something or to simply just watch something I’ve missed.
Dvid, any further word on when PLUS7 will be available on Panasonic Viera TV’s, no date was given in the original announcement. Also, is iView likely to come to Viera?
