Sandra Sully says goodnight

TEN News presenter Sandra Sully read her final bulletin for TEN's Late News last night, ending 16 years in the chair.

TEN News presenter Sandra Sully read her final bulletin for TEN’s Late News last night, ending 16 years in the chair.

During that time her most renowned presentation was September 11 2001 when she became the first presenter to break the news of a fire atop the World Trade Centre.

What unfolded was a night none of us will forget.

Across her 16 years many viewers have watched her bring us the news of the day and chuckled at her banter with Sports Tonight‘s Brad McEwan.

Sully is moving to TEN’s new 6:30pm bulletin in Sydney to air in 2011.

  1. It’s funny but I’ve had Sandra Sully in my life for the past 16 years. All through high I was up late doing homework and watching her, then through uni. You’d think late night news would be something like the graveyard shift, but it really is the only time a lot of people can watch the news, whether they’re studying or the kids are in bed etc, so I’m sure she’ll be missed. Good on you Sandra!

  2. Will definitely miss the Sultry one, watched the entire 911 thing from “Just Breaking”and have really enjoyed in the last few years her seemingly lighter and more approachable style.
Perhaps the comedy spoof had some small effect but regardless, one of the best out there and disappointed being a Queenslander will more then likely see you no more……best of luck.

  3. yes -will miss you sandra..but happy to have you on 6.30 in sydney …as for nine and etc being the one you turn to for news….sandra had the world trade centre news well before the rest and i stayed with her all night..well done and good luck !

  4. I’ll admit I remember flicking it on September 11 after Lateline as I got home late that night and wanted to watch some news. I watched it with and without my family (after seeing a building on fire) until midday.

I also remember the Stuart Diver rescue. Or at least the end because I didn’t know he’d been found as I hadn’t had the TV on all day due to it being the weekend. I remember that it affected her. I didn’t mind that one bit. And it was amazing.

I wish her well. Even if she comes back.

  5. @Tim Its not just reading the news there is rehersals and prep work plus makeup etc its not just rock up at 9.45pm read the 10.30 news and go home. Its more extensive that that.

  6. Why on earth can’t she read both? Even if she is on air for updates for an hour before the Sydney news, she will still only have around six hours work!

  7. The last news won’t be the same without her. ): She was the one who did a news re-cap for the final two Big Brother housemates. I expect that Kathryn Robinson or Deborah Knight will fill-in until a replacement has been announced. Thanks for the video, but I still would have liked to have been able to see her read her final bulletin.

  8. Yes i had just got home from work & turned on the news & grabbed a beer when Sandra got the call about 9/11 & stayed stunned & glued to the tv for the next 10 hours. What unfolded that day is still unbelievable.
    Sandra i will miss you.

  9. So I guess we can expect to see her back on the late news before too long when the news project is formally killed off. Feel sorry for Ten staff at the moment, especially those recently employed.
