Thanks for your patience

Thanks to readers for their patience during a loss of service this weekend.

Thanks to readers for their patience during a loss of service this weekend.

The site experienced some server issues which were beyond my control (and no it wasn’t linked to NAB, GTV9 or the Victorian Labor Party!).

This was the first major site outage in nearly four years of daily service.

I am advised it may not yet be the end of the problem. Fingers crossed…..

In recent the months the site has also been receiving so much traffic there has been an increase in downtime. Although the two matters were actually unrelated I am authorising an upgrade to address this for the long term.

All being well I will file a few stories on Sunday before resuming usual service from Monday. As we head into December the amount of TV news will begin to slow soon.

Thanks also for the messages of support during this time. It seems there are many who rely on a daily dose of TV news within both industry and audiences.

Apologies once again for any inconvenience.

David.

  1. The perils of cheap o/seas hosting – 4 years is a good run! It’s a reasonable solution for low traffic sites but once you become popular you prob need to take it to the next level.

I managed to work out what to watch on TV all by myself last night but I am relieved that you have returned to guide me.

  2. That’s cool David – appreciate the update.

I was wondering what was going on when I couldn’t access one of my favourite sites – glad to know you’re still in one piece!

I’ve appreciated your hard work over this year – you’ve earnt a good rest!

  3. I wholeheartedly agree with all the comments below.
On Friday I heard Roy & HG referencing your site on their radio programme (about the Warnie Show as it happens) and logged on to see which bit they were laughing about. When I couldn’t get on I thought I caught the first whiff of a Channel 9 conspiracy against you. Fortunately it turned out to be just a theory!
In retrospect, messing with the internet is way beyond the capabilities of the Channel 9 heavies.
    Welcome back!

  4. Thanks for keeping us updated on twitter yesterday. Your still much more reliable than the programming schedule at Nine (if you start having daily outages I might change my opinion – lol)

  5. Good to have the site back again, well done to all getting it up and running. Also thank you David for tweeting that the site was down. When I couldn’t get into the site on Friday night I honestly thought it was our end with our dodgy modem. I was relieved when I saw your tweet. Have a good weekend David :0)

  6. HI there

Glad to that you are back and keep up the good work

  7. I was wandering what was happening as i wasn’t getting my RSS feeds.David
The graphic you posted explains it perfectly.Nevertheless its great to be back to normal as i am one of those who rely on the daily dosage of TV news.

  8. I had a bit of a panic when I couldn’t get here. Thanks for the update David. The life of webmasters hey? This is what it must be like for newspapers when the printers go on strike! 😛

  9. Happened on the last day of ratings. Maybe 9 didn’t want the figures known. Do I smell a conspiracy theory? 😉 4 years without major downtime is good going, here’s hoping for another long run.
