It’s beginning to look a lot like Doctor Who

Now less than a week to go before the newest Doctor Who adventure hits Australian screens.

Now less than a week to go before the newest Doctor Who adventure hits Australian screens.

This should get you in the mood -here’s a preview of Doctor Who: Confidential (which isn’t scheduled to run here).

The “A Christmas Carol” episode airs 7:30pm Sunday on ABC1.

Corrected: And ABC1 also plays Doctor Who At The Proms at 5pm Sunday.

  1. I think the reason the Confidentials only get aired in their cutdown form is due to music rights. The full originals use a lot of current commercial hits which need record company licensing.

It’s probably too expensive to get worldwide licensing. The ABC and DVD versions have most music replaced with a generic ‘filler’ soundtrack.

Fans of David Tennant may also wish to catch the Catherine Tate Christmas Special on ABC1 Friday 24th at 9pm, where he plays one of the parts.

  2. This is so fantastic that the ABC have truly “fast-tracked” the Christmas Episode of Who this year! Well done ABC!!!! Now, show it in HD!!!

The “Doctor Who Confidentials” run for abour 45mins in the UK, but we only get “cut-down” versions on the DVDs.

  3. If there was any doubt as to whether Doctor Who is made for childern and is total rubbish seeing him on a sleigh ride should now confirm it for all. What a complete joke.

  4. Thanks for that David, but why doesn’t the confidential air here? Sometimes it’s better than the episode IMO and we get a cut down 15 minutes version at it’s best. Why don’t they do like the UK and put it on ABC2 right after Doctor Who airs on ABC1?

  5. It is definately beginning to feel a lot like Smithmas!!
Shame we can’t get the confidential on one of the Platforms! Be nice to at least see it on iview!! It would be worth it just to see Matt Smith and Karen Gillan singing while Arthur Darville (who’s dad was in Fine Young Cannibals and is in band himself, plays a pretty mean piano).
