Merry Xmas from TV Tonight

It's the last day of the 2010 Ratings year. Merry Xmas everyone.

Just a little wish to anyone who has taken the time to check the site today -that’s loyalty, guys.

You should really be out playing in the snow. Oh wait.

No, you should be unwrapping the pressies under the tree, digging into cashew nuts that threaten to make you feel full before Mum finishes cooking the turkey (it always takes forever), and complaining if nobody remembered to supply some shortbread. When else do we ever get shortbread?

All this before facing distant relatives and having to pretend you actually like your cousins. Thank goodness Xmas only comes once a year.

Tonight on the telly Liz will remind us all what a lovely fireplace she has and presumably say something nice about William and that lovely Kate girl.

Some of us will remember we used to love watching The Panel, even if it only meant we didn’t have to sit through the Australian Ballroom Championships again.

At least we have Doctor Who to look forward to tomorrow night. Thanks for that, Aunty!

As it happens, today is also the last day of the 2010 Ratings Survey Year.

And if the day all gets too much, just remember…. it’s only a handful of sleeps before Hot Cross Buns go on sale at Coles.

Merry Xmas,

David.

  1. And a very Merry Christmas to you and yours David….
And a great new year to follow……:-)
Also…if it is like last year….the hot cross buns will be in Coles tomorrow…boxing day!

  2. All the very best, David … thanks for your dedication, insight, chutzpah and humour over the last year, and look forward (with my other addicted TVites) for more excitement, controversy, laughs and discussion. Peace on earth …

  3. Merry christmas to you david and everyone who visits the site and just to say you are a very hard and loyal person keeping this site up to date every day and even on you hiatus time have a great one and hope to continue the tv news in 2011.

  4. Merry Christmas David. I just finished opening all my presents (which to my delight included both the Wallander Series 3 DVD – love that show – and the Sherlock series, in the middle of the less useful presents.) Then I just had to check out my favourite site while the veggie pretend turkey is cooking!!!! Have a great day, hope you got some nice pressies too!!!!! Don’t drink tooooooo much egg nog!

  5. Merry Xmas to you David, and all the other TV Tonight tragics reading this page instead of kicking back and relaxing on this national Holiday.
By the way, Scrooges, we all know Xmas is a lot of hooey, but don’t spoil it for the kids! There’s plenty of time later in adult life to be a miserable cynic.
So buck up and have a drink or two and try to forget your worries for one day!

  6. How is it loyal to check the site if for many people this is just another day that holds no significance? Nonetheless, merry Christmas to those who do celebrate it!

  7. I am thoroughly disappointed with WIN TV, who have Again chosen to take another long holiday this year. They should be ashamed of themselves. Are they suffering from some kind of budget or other shortage to cause them to take such a long break leaving us with rubbish in place of local news??? And why is the holiday so long??? It is bad enough they take holidays on Christmas Day and Good Friday pretending nothing happens locally on those days (as well as every Saturday and Sunday year-round) but taking a holiday until January10 is utterly inexcusable!!!!!!! This is the second year in a row they have done this.

  8. I am one of those scrooges that hate christmas and try to pretend it doesn’t happen.

But I do wish you an early Happy New Year and look forward to the end of the hiatus period. I need my frequent fix of TVT.

  9. Marry xMas David and everyone… and don’t forget we have new Top Gear…. oh wait that’s in the UK and Nine should show them in about a month, good timing for the holiday specials laced with holiday references.

Just as bad as the NCIS xMas show or any of the others they will pop up sometime in February. But at least the ABC is doing the right thing this year and giving us the Doctor, just hope when it’s time for the season proper they can fast tract that the same day.

  10. Great Xmas recap, and have a happy one too David. Let’s hope 2011 brings bigger and better things to your awesome site.
From one very loyal TV Tonight reader.
