Oprah juggernaut rolls into Sydney

300 audience members and 100 production crew arrived for ''Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure'' after a 14-hour flight.

300 audience members and 100 production crew arrived for ”Oprah‘s Ultimate Australian Adventure” after a 14-hour flight on two planes from Los Angeles.

After being rushed bewildered past waiting media at Sydney Airport, the group were bused downtown to the InterContinental Hotel, where hundreds of curious spectators had gathered.

Winfrey is expected to touch down in Cairns this morning and before travelling to Hamilton Island to meet up with some of her prize-winners.

The mostly American guests begin their cross-country adventure around Australia today.

They will split up for stays across NSW. Other members of the group are booked on flights for Byron Bay and Melbourne. Winfrey is expected to take a tour on the Harbour Bridge Climb on Saturday evening before being the guest of honour at a party in the Royal Botanic Gardens.

And possibly a McCafe or two…..

The audience have been told not to communicate by mobile phone with journalists.

Winfrey will make her only official public appearance in Melbourne on Friday. Prime Minister Julia Gillard will also make a guest appearance at Oprah‘s Sydney tapings next week.

There is also speculation there may now be four Oprah shows filmed instead of two.

  1. Apparently some of them are going to the Barossa Valley, and over to Kangaroo Island too. We’ve just had a massive storm with more to come and flooding in many areas. Hardly the best time to go to Kangaroo Island.
