  1. Dave, apparently they will be showing some American ads, but I’m not sure when (if it’ll be a package or whatever – I can’t imagine them foregoing revenue and only showing the U.S. ads, though that would solve their issue of missing plays cos they were still showing local ads!).

Johnson, just looked at the EPG and found that myself – spewing! Foxtel had the chance here to differentiate themselves from One by showing the Pro Bowl, and didn’t. The number of games on Foxtel that are not on One just got less (what happened to double-headers Foxtel? There was hardly any this year), as did their chances of retaining me as a subscriber for that very reason. C’mon One, we want to see the Pro Bowl too.

  2. There will be no live coverage of the Pro Bowl this year, on One, Fox Sports or ESPN (which has chosen to show the Winter X-Games instead). However there will be a one-hour highlights on One next Monday at 6pm.

  3. @ Donald,

ONE is taking the direct US feed this year so hopefully their won’t be as many issues with ad breaks this year. Except they stuffed up the end of Packers/Bears today missing two plays just after the 2 minute warning of the last quarter.

But I am really looking forward to Packers Vs Steelers! Go Steelers!

  4. I’ll watch it on ESPN because they are taking the feed from the NFL Network which helps international viewers who mostly only watch one NFL game a year understand the rules better.

  5. Ten earns extra points for showing the pre-game show as well this year, 🙂 but again loses points for no Pro Bowl. 🙁

@Russell, because the Super Bowl is a ratings monster (gets half of the total TV audience at the time) – already I’m hearing the coughs in the office of people who will have no choice but to stay home sick on the 7th 😉 – and to deliberately limit your viewers by having it HD-only would be advertising lunacy.

@Stevie, no, the problem was 10 elected at times not to go to ads when the U.S. did (so we just had the local hosts waffling on to fill the void), which then left them in the position of eventually having to show ads when the U.S. was still in live action. Hopefully 10 will FINALLY learn their lesson and go to ads at the same time as the U.S., even if it’s ahead of their expected schedule, and we won’t miss any action. They’ve had the Super Bowl coverage for enough years to know this by now. The ad breaks are orchestrated by the officials, and 10 need to get with the program.

  6. I’ve read that ONE HD is taking the feed directly from FOX in the US this year, with the only difference of having our own ads instead of the American ones. I’d prefer to watch it on ONE with American commentators then to take the ESPN feed which will be the NFL “international” feed which is dumbed down to help foreigners understand the game.

  7. Will the superbowl be completely live on ten/one. Didn’t they delay it too fit in commercials in previous years. Just might have to watch it on fox or ESPN if it is the case.

  8. @Paul…No …Fox Sports will not be broadcasting the Superbowl. They only have the rights to NFC regular season games.

Ten/One will air the Superbowl taking the Fox feed from the US with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman calling the action.

ESPN will take the international feed from NFL network.

  9. Really glad I have Austar so I don’t have to put up with the stupid Australian people talking about what they no nothing about (I’m talking to you Dave Hughes) ESPN HD also looks much better than ONE HD

  10. @Russell, because not everywhere has One HD yet…. Digital Television is in 76 percent of households and until it gets to 100 percent it makes sense to simulcast it on ten.

  11. Ok, I’m confused. The players for Super Bowl XLV have been decided yet? That will happen on Monday morning (Aust Time) with the two Conference games.
Oh, not the Cowboys and Saints? Apart from the fact that they are both in the same Conference (NFC) and would never be in a Superbowl together, only the Saints reached the finals and lost in the first week. (yes I’m nit-picking) but if a press release goes out, it should be correct.

What I want to know is, will One show the NFL Pro Bowl from Hawaii on January 30th?

  12. Saints Vs Cowboys? Eh? Last I looked my team the mighty Green Bay Cheesehead Packers were playing Chicago Bears this weekend, and the New Orleans Saints were eliminated a couple of weeks ago.

Me thinks you have your wires crossed!

  13. Shouldn’t Ten/One management be trying to build One up as THE place for FTA sports?

Then why do they insist on simulcasting everything on both networks?
