  1. Seven should shut down 7Mate and replace it with a 7Sport HD channel with live sport in all states (inc. WA) as an alternative channel to One HD with some content simulcast on the 7Sport HD channel. This is the only option we can get HD sports on 7 like AFL, V8’s, Australian Open, and in the future, the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

  2. @Bill Gates – The decision for 7 to stop simulcasting 7 in HD and start up 7Mate was not due to the government, it was a 7 decision. There is no point complaining to the government about a decision that 7 made. Same with 9. The governement didn’t say you have to use your HD channel to show movies from the 50’s in black and white on it.

  3. Firstly, I’m loving Channel 7’s new technique of splitting the screen in 8 to show simultaneous matches then zooming in and out – it adds to the excitement. However, I so wish they’d show games live into QLD. Their argument is always that the viewers would prefer to watch a full game from the start so they are simply giving viewers what they want. Rubbish. I’d prefer to come straight into the middle of a game after the news and watch it live. I just made the mistake of perusing news headlines on my iphone during an ad break and it said who won the game I was watching.

  4. I feel happy for those people with FoxSport at their homes cause the quality of tennis at Hisense today has been excellent.

It started off with a 5 sets match between Monfils and De Bakker and now Henin is tied in a long battle with Sania Mirza.

Too bad the same can’t be said with Seven, who again feeds us with delayed coverage for the night session. How atrocious is that?

  5. tonight will be rubbish on 7. the plugging of their shows has been bad already. it’s prime time and i wouldn’t be surprised if they had the ball boys and girls holding up sign at the end of every second game plugging a show. that’s what they would do

  6. So apparently Seven is allowed by the government to show matches on 7TWO but insists on showing it delayed in states other than Vic and NSW. What a Shame!
Would Love to have Fox Sports at times like this but too bad i couldn’t afford it.

  7. HD picture quality on FoxSports is amazing. Shame same can’t be said for 7, but I understand it’s *kinda* outta their hands for now. So glad Fox has access to all Hisense matches though!!

  8. Oh yeah, and the ads in Seven are just relentless. It’s quite depressing that the local fans of the Australian Open have to be subject to such low quality coverage.

  9. @The Strikester – The coverage is delayed on Rod Laver because only 7 are able to show the events live.

@George – Why mention every time that the FTA networks, bar One HD, aren’t in HD??? Go whinge to the government

to a) Allow matches to be shown on the digital channels,
that b) the fact with all the money they have spent on telling the population about getting a STB, they could have brought one for every household who doesn’t have one already! The old analogue spectrum could have been closed by now, allowing more bandwidth for the stations to actually broadcast more then one HD channel
