Rove in TV comeback with Foxtel

Rove McManus is set to make a comeback to Australian television, this time on Pay TV.

Rove McManus is set to make a comeback to Australian television.

The former TEN host has signed a deal with Foxtel.

He will host a one on one style interview show from Los Angeles.

McManus has been largely based in the US since ending his long-running variety show on TEN in 2009.

His last television project, Say It Now, a talk show co-hosted with Valerie Bertinelli didn’t get past the Pilot stage with CBS.

  1. If this is being made in the US, then it should not qualify as Australia content. But if this is being used to build up Australian content points, then that is the only reason I can think of as to why Foxtel would buy this. This guy has never been funny, only some of the support talent on his show had any talent. Rove is better behind the camera, not in front of it.

  2. ahhh gee, the knockers came out quick….over used …over exposed…apart form a few guest things on 7pm…i havent seen him since he left the TV…. new faces?? please we dont have enough talent as it is…thats probably been said by someone that wants a show on telly…just crawl back to your corner and be quiet…

  3. Oh God, enough already with this no talent waste of time. I’ll certainly not watch his new show, but he’s completely over-exposed in all forms of media so avoiding him won’t be as easy as switching channels. Besides, being Foxtel they’ll run endless promos for his show and that’s enough to drive me nuts.

  4. It’ll be good to see Rove again..have missed him alot..so hope one of the commercial networks eventually picks the show up..
Rove knows most of the big US stars and they shouldn’t be hard to get an interview with them .
When will the show be on TV?..I wonder if an American network will pick up the show?

  5. Sometimes Rove is a good interviewer and the conversation flows naturally, but in so many interviews I’ve seen him do the conversation is stilted and awkward and you can see the guest is uncomfortable, particularly those from the US who don’t understand his juvenile humour and immaturity.

  6. Good Luck to him. Love him or hate him he is so much better than some of the talent we have on TV atm, aka Hamish and Andy. First guest has to be Chelsea Lately surely. Can’t wait to see it anyway.

  7. I get the change the channel bit, but when a network won’t listen to the people and leaves a garbage show on in prime time for something like an hour and a half (on a good day) I have every right to complain long, loud and hard.

  8. I like Rove, but he is not good at interviewing people, actually in my opinion it is his weakest link . A good interviewer like Denton or Parkinson does not feel the need to bring the conversation back to themselves all the time.

  9. Yes!!! Can’t wait, I’ve been missing seeing him on my TV. I don’t have Foxtel, but I will now be getting it just to watch him!

Now I know this will fill up of people hating on Rove but Craig Ferguson said something perfect last night when talking about those who send him hate mail “Its called a remote, use it!” Thats all you have to do if you hate him so much, change the channel and there’s no need to read this article or post on it!

  10. Haha … couldn’t make it in the US, so hes come crawling back to our screens… but from over there. Wonder what channel is going to get stuck with him – doesn’t matter, he won’t last long!
