  1. Terrible Ch 9 – just terrible. I read the Friday guide (when we play NZ) with disdain that we are forced to watch a chick flick then a show about embarrassing genitals. Why dont CA do something? Their GEM HD channel is sitting there virually dormant, it’s an absolute disgrace. And then we cop Taylor and some Sydney NRL commentator – cant believe Ch 9 got it so wrong.

  2. @ Matt. Quit whinging yourself!! How the hell is the Asian Cup more significant than the ICC World Cup to Australians FFS? Cricket is Australia’s number 1 national sport. (none of the football codes are truly national). The position of Australian Cricket Captain holds more prestige than the position of PM. Isn’t the Asian Cup soccer? Like who cares about soccer in this country really, other than fair-weather Socceroo supporters and 5 to 10 year olds who play the game before converting to Australia’s popular football codes.

  3. I think it an absolute disgrace that C9 aren’t showing the entire game. C9 is more concerned about showing their stupid US show then commiting to the Cricket. C9 is the main broadcaster of cricket in this country and if they aren’t commited showing the World Cup, by showing only Australian matches at the red hour, another network should be able to have a chance to broadcast it (ie ONE HD).

Why is Australian matches only being shown, why can’t they show other big clashes. Also why can’t GEM or GO show matches as well. That why the rules were changed.

While I do have foxtel, I can’t afford the sports package.

I agree with the other posters, if C9 does this to the Cricket, they will destory the Olympics.

We complain about C7, but C9 are just as bad.

    Shame, shame, shame.

Please give us cricket fans are chance to cheer on the aussie be that on 9, GO or GEM.

  4. David – Is it Nine that is the problem here? or does Foxtel have a say in all this?

I had no idea it was going to be On tv until this article. +1 for justification to coming to this site 10 times a day 😉

  5. Hey Guys,

Last night the coverage wasn’t too bad at all, the coverage was live for it’s entirety and featured the host broadcasters commentary, e.g. Ian Chappell, Tony Greig.

The only problem was that Nine didn’t show the first innings, obviously because they didnt want to hurt their primetime market.

Other than the first innings not being shown, I dont see what all the fuss is about!

  6. The only reason Nine are showing this is because of the anti siphoning list. If it wasn’t for this list, you would need a Foxtel subscription to watch any games.

It’s not live, it’s not HD, but at least it’s FTA. Be thankful people.

  7. Re Mr Chandler , i hope if we do make it to the knockout stage and that its shown Live , if not looks like its check in time at a hotel with Foxtel , now thats desperate and Drew i think the NZ game with AUS is a day match , so by the time its shown at 11.30pm on friday night itll be all over mate. Its funny isnt i t, all this BS anti-siphoning laws 3 digital channels each and they cant show it Live ,stupid analogue rule , this happens every 4 years so work that out , all i can say is come the 2012 Olympcs ill be getting Foxtel HD , channel 9 will butcher the Games.

  8. They should at least show the games against the decent countries live. OK, the matches against Kenya, Zimbabwe and Canada (which isn’t even on FTA) are fair enough to delay because they’re not exactly going to be interesting. But against the proper teams they should at least show the games live. It’s not as though some of the programs they put on actually rate that much better….

  9. very very delayed in perth, so much so that by the time nine perth put it to air
the game will be over . FTA stuffs the people again .
    foxtel rules the day again

  10. That should read “Nine’s ICC Cricket World (Australian only matches) Cup.” for the non tounge in cheek…..

Which btw on Foxtel is live and in glorious HD….

  11. This is why I am glad I’ve got Foxtel, and Fox Sports have the main rights to this series – they do such a better job at broadcasting it (live & complete), and usually just use the proper feed from the host broadcaster. They might squeeze in an ad or two between overs and breaks, but theres none of that “limited edition frame of 50000” crap, or Two & a Half Men promos every 10 mins.

“Nine’s commentary team includes Tim Gilbert, Andrew Voss, Mark Taylor and Ian Healy.” …. ummm, what?? Don’t tell me Nine are going to re-commentate the Fox vision, or are they hosting the broadcast in a studio or something? Either way, just stick with the Fox feed – the less crap added to the broadcast, the better!

  12. Hang on , all day/night games start anywhere from 7:30 to 8:30 EDST . That means 9 are only showing the second half ! Why ? Why not show the whole game on Gem ? Channel 9 screws cricket fans again ! 🙁

  13. I’m not happy at all with the 9 coverage. Given that they are only covering matches involving Aus, they should be more responsible and show the entire match, not just a few hours. The worst though is the Aus vs NZ game. The 9 tv guide shows coverage for just 1 hour – 11:30-12:30. I’ll just have to save bandwidth and stream games, the obvious solution without foxtel.
