The US remake of Prime Suspect is back on the table.
Originally announced in 2009 by NBC with Hank Steinberg (creator of Without a Trace, The Nine) it hit trouble with difficulties casting the lead role, played in the UK by Helen Mirren.
The adaptation was also given a revamp with a new producing team and new writer, Alexandra Cunningham, coming on board.
NBC has officially greenlit it to Pilot stage.

I agree with pietro dont even think about it. Helen Mirren owns that title she was awesome in the role. I loved Prime Suspect wish more where made.
The Closer is the closest thing America has/had to Prime Suspect, it was mentioned in a USA Today article and Kyra Sedgwick has mentioned this as wel.
This really is sacrilegious, but if they’re going to do this get an good quality actress like Patrica Clarkson, Judy Davis, Joan Allen, Cherry Jones.
Please no. There’ll never be another Jane Tennyson or Helen Mirren.
