The Nine Network has secured the US edition of Top Gear from BBC Worldwide.
The US adaptation, which stars comedian Adam Ferrara, racing driver Tanner Foust and commentator Rutledge Wood, airs in the US on the History Channel.
This is the third US attempt at the franchise, with the previous two being Discovery and NBC projects. This one has been renewed for a second season.

abc2 has series 1&2 of night garden and ch9 and\or cbeebies will get in the night garden series 3
What about the Chinese Top Gear in the works (pending content approval by the Ministry of Culture)? Nine could have four TG shows…
could we be starting to all get a bit top geared out .??????????
can the get the rights to mongolian top gear as well thanks
Strange relationship is that NBC has part ownership with History in a joint venture with Hearst Corporation, and Disney-ABC Television Group
And, I presume this is coming to 9 on a Tuesday, perhaps or maybe another day.
Reading most of the comments here, it seems SBS had Top Gear at its peak. Maybe Shaun Brown should breathe a sigh of relief?
PS: Doesn’t the *History* (Channel) name mean anything to them anymore?
I’m a bit over it too.
It has become so bloated now that it is on ch 9 and has ten billion ads throughout, starts late, ends late and the actual content of the show seems lacking too – I don’t appreciate being treated like a numbskull by the presenters – I can spot your fakery a mile off TG!!
I ranted a bit on the Ratings article about Nine’s woeful treatment of yet another decent show. I wouldn’t mind checking out the US ver (this one’s supposed to be ok) but I won’t be if Nine aren’t able to broadcast the episodes in their correct order and at a consistent day & time.
Nearly a million viewers less than this time last year. Even SBS were getting better ratings. Is anyone awake at the Helm of Nine’s programming dept?
I agree with Gary , its become a silly show.I thought they peaked when they did the Bolivia Special , that was enjoyable and great scenery too.Even the Iraq special was a bit blah to be honest. Lets hope the US special with NY is okay , but i may have missed this episode a few weeks ago , can anyone advise please if this has been on.Many thanks.
The US version is actually pretty good, better than the local one, which granted is not a tough job but it compares pretty well with the original which many think is on the decline in recent series. Which has nothing to do with Nine’s scheduling or promotion.
Do we really need more Top Gear?
As much as I hate to say it being a Top Gear Fan for many many years, I’m a bit over it. Its seems to be getting silly for the sake of being silly. The Mafia guy being stuffed in the boot of the cars the other night a classic example of this silliness. Bring back a few proper reviews of the cars please.
If you thought Top Gear Aus was bad, just wait till you see the US version! It’s terrible, but then again well suited to Nines poor line up these days.
Please make them stop.
Because everyone knows American remakes of British shows are always top quality items!!
Nine are very lucky to now have three low rating shows! Good work nine!!
Damn it! I was hoping SBS would get the US one!
Given the sliding ratings I’m betting this one will be lucky to top 750k.
Can we still assume the local History channel will air it also at some point?
He says sarcastically,
Can’t wait for 9 to take up the Chinese version as well.
Then he runs screaming to hide under the bed in fear of more TG repeats.
American Top Gear? That will be riveting TV…..
