March 23:
Red Riding Hood – Directed by Catherine Hardwicke, and starring Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman, Billy Burke. Set in a medieval village that is haunted by a werewolf, a young girl falls for an orphaned woodcutter, much to her family’s displeasure.

Biutiful – Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, and starring Javier Bardem. This is a story of a man in free fall. On the road to redemption, darkness lights his way. Connected with the afterlife, Uxbal is a tragic hero and father of two who’s sensing the danger of death. He struggles with a tainted reality and a fate that works against him in order to forgive, for love, and forever.

Barney’s Version – plus Interview with director Richard J Lewis, producer Robert Lantos and actors Paul Giametti & Rosamund Pike. The touching story of the politically incorrect, fully-lived life of the impulsive, irascible and fearlessly blunt Barney Panofsky.

David reviews ‘DVD Classic’ Chinatown starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway.

30th March:
The Mechanic – Directed by Simon West. Starring Jason Statham, Ben Foster, Tony Goldwyn. Follows an elite hit man as he teaches his trade to an apprentice who has a connection to one of his previous victims.

The Lincoln Lawyer – Directed by Brad Furman, starring Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei, Ryan Phillippe. A lawyer conducts business from the back of his Lincoln town car while representing a high-profile client in Beverly Hills.

In A Better World – Directed by Susanne Bier and starring Mikael Persbrandt, Wil Johnson, Ulrich Thomsen. The lives of two Danish families cross each other, and an extraordinary but risky friendship comes into bud.

Never Let Me Go – stars Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightly and Andrew Garfirled. As children, Ruth, Kathy and Tommy, spend their childhood at a seemingly idyllic English boarding school. As they grow into young adults, they find that they have to come to terms with the strength of the love they feel for each other, while preparing themselves for the haunting reality that awaits them.

Margaret reviews the 1945 ‘DVD Classic’ Mildred Pierce starring Joan Crawford.

It airs Wednesdays at 10pm on ABC1.

  1. I like the ‘classic’ reviews! Maybe they should just get rid of the interview segments to fit another new review in? Most of those interviews add nothing for me.

  2. I love the Classic DVD reviews (mainly because the ones they’ve done so far have been favourites of mine). I’d rather D&M spend time on those than trying to justify the existence of yet another Matthew McConaughey movie.

  3. I hate the ‘DVD Classic’ segment. I’d rather see a new movie review. It’s not like they don’t have enough movies to review each week. Put the ‘DVD Classic’ review on the website and a web exclusive. Like how TGT does.

    I’d rather see them review a Aussie movie instead of an old classic DVD.
