Grand Designs Australia Live event for Melbourne

Grand Designs Australia Live, which has a Sydney event scheduled for October, has now added dates for Melbourne.

Grand Designs Australia Live, which has a Sydney event scheduled for October 21-23, has now added dates for Melbourne in May 2012.

Vice President Live Experiences, FME Australia & New Zealand, Dustin Lockett, confirmed today that the Melbourne Exhibition Centre had been secured for May 18-20 2012, and that stands would go on sale from May 30 this year through event organisers Diversified Exhibitions Australia.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing the Grand Designs Australia Live to Melbourne following the very strong sales we’ve already had for our Sydney event at Darling Harbour, which is still six months away,” Lockett said.

“More than 70 per cent of stands have been sold in the four key zones of the exhibition, with a superb array of prestigious Australian and international brands lined up to be part of the first ever Grand Designs Live event in Australia,” he said.

Grand Designs Australia Live will be based on the hit TV series Grand Designs Australia, presented on The Lifestyle Channel by award-winning architect Peter Maddison.

The addition of the Grand Designs Australia Live Melbourne event now gives sponsors and exhibitors the opportunity to interact and engage with consumers across two major eastern sea board cities.

“There are a couple of sponsorship packages remaining in key categories but they are likely to be sold quickly now with the announcement of the Melbourne event , so sponsors with a potential interest should act soon to avoid missing this fantastic opportunity,” Lockett said.

Major sponsors for Grand Designs Australia Live Sydney include Miele, which will create a custom-designed kitchen where visitors can view demonstrations by celebrity chefs and interact with the Miele range; Philips, which is building a House of the Future to showcase a raft of amazing household innovations; SBS Residential, which will create a sustainable eco-village; and Dulux, which will feature the Dulux Design Stage featuring the latest trends and textures for the home.

The four key zones of Grand Designs Australia Live Sydney comprise Grand Building, Grand Outdoors, Grand Interiors and Grand Kitchens and Bathrooms.

Two new areas have been introduced since the original floor plan was announced: the Design Quarter area, within the Grand Interiors zone, showcasing the most cutting-edge designs in the industry; and the Market Garden, a new concept within the Grand Outdoors section.

Grand Designs Live was first launched in the UK in 2005 based on the hugely successful Channel 4 TV series presented by design guru Kevin McCloud. This record breaking event now attracts over 100,00 visitors and 600 exhibitors every year, establishing itself as the UK’s number one consumer show for design and innovation for the home.

Lockett said he was delighted Melbourne exhibitors and sponsors would be able to showcase their goods and services at Grand Designs Australia Live in 2012.

“Melbourne is arguably the architectural and design capital of Australia so we’re confident of a great success with our event there next year,” he said.
