Laurence Fishburne quits CSI

Laurence Fishburne will leave CSI: Crime Scene Investigation after two and a half seasons and two Harry's Law regulars are out.

Laurence Fishburne will leave CSI: Crime Scene Investigation after two and a half seasons, according to Hollywood Reporter.

Fishburne replaced William Petersen when he left the show in December 2008, but the show has seen its ratings drop since Petersen left, posting its lowest-rated US season finale ever last month.

CBS is also moving the show from its longtime Thursday 9 p.m. slot in the fall.

Meanwhile Harry’s Law regulars Brittany Snow and Aml Ameen will not be returning to David E. Kelley’s legal dramedy in its second season.

Sources say producers looked at the stories and roles and decided they weren’t going to be expanded and instead opted to give the duo the opportunity to pursue other projects.

  1. @stevieg Yes I was a huge fan of American Dreams a shame it only lasted a few seasons and besides loving Kathy Bates was glad to see Britany Snow on the small screen again.

  2. I always thought Will Peterson would make a comeback , he did a voice on the phone once i think but the shows been going downhill for a while , time to go bury it in the Nevada Desert where it will never be found again.

  3. Brittany Snow, would have been my main reason to watch Harry’s Law, having been a fan of the short lived Amercan Dreams. But I didn’t bother to follow it around nine’s ever changing schedule anyway.

  4. Duh!

It was William Petersen’s show, he made the show. It would be like replacing Mark Harmon from NCIS and expecting no one to notice. CSI franchise has had it’s day.

  5. As much as I like David E Kelly’s shows, since the last series of Ally McBeal (where new actors came and went very quickly) the supporting characters tend to be shuffled quite a lot. It happened throughout Boston Legal, often with little or no explanation, and I’ve been waiting to see when similar would happen on Harry’s Law.

  6. When the broadcast network start chopping characters in David E Kelley productions, you know damn well there ain’t much hope for the future of the series.

It would be a big mistake to bring back Petersen to CSI… the franchise is near (or past) its use-by date.

  7. I have to admit I stopped watching CSI after William Petersen left. The show just doesn’t seem to be the same. Hopefully they will get someone in who will make it interesting again.
