Even ABC is busy with renovation lately…..

When Time Team finishes its early evening slot currently on ABC, 2009 UK series Restoration Man will begin. It is presented by architect George Clarke who previously presented Build A New Life for Five and The Home Show for Channel Four.

Architect George Clarke works with romantics who have bought one of the thousands of forgotten building gems in the UK that are rotting, neglected and tied up with development red tape, to turn it into a unique home.

Clarke helps the stubborn and idealistic owners breathe life back into these structures, which range from windmills, towers, gatehouses, ice houses, granary mills or churches. They are buildings with interesting and mysterious histories, and at one time important to the local community.

Builder Mark Horton buys an 18th century folly, Bath Lodge in Ormskirk, West Lancashire and plans to convert it into a luxurious family home. The challenge is huge as it is a derelict shell.

Three months in, the bank pulls in the loan and pressure mounts with dramatic consequences for Mark’s health and for the building.

It begins 6pm Thursday August 4th on ABC1.
