Good news, sweetie….
The BBC has confirmed Absolutely Fabulous is to return to the UK later this year with three specials to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary.
Jennifer Saunders, Joanna Lumley, Julia Sawalha, June Whitfield and Jane Horrocks will all return.
The series about PR guru Edina and her sex-mad magazine editor Patsy ran in various seasons from 1992 to 2003 with a special in 2004.
The first epsiode will see them in the middle of a “life-changing experience for one – which affects them all”. In the second show, Edina sets her sights on changing the career of someone described by the BBC as “a very big fish indeed”. In the last episode, Eddy and Patsy play their own part in the 2012 London Olympics. Dear god…..
Saunders said, “Like a good bottle of champagne we hope that we have got better with time without losing any of our sparkle.
“Last week when we started filming in dear old west London, it was as if nothing had changed. It was raining.
“Nevertheless, we are so happy to be working for an audience that has grown just a tiny bit older like us, but is still willing to let us fall over on TV in the name of PR.”

Pet Shop Boys should definately be involved with Ab Fab.
As a Massive fan of the PSB it is wonderful to hear over TV Tonight readers talk about the PSB.
It won’t be the PSB, but we can expect Eddy to finally get to the studio with “Walking down the Road” ( her one song that she’s trotted out every now and then) and electro it up for the kids with La Roux. Allegedly….of course ; )
Gotta say I recently rediscovered the joys of the PSB’s picking up Please and Behaviour (to replace ancient cassette copies) as well as their most recent live package. Classy pop, for sure!

As is a certain blogger. With a certain connection.
Excellent news! Spookily, I just realised all of the leading ladies’ first names start with J….
Hope they get the Pet Shop Boys to rework ‘This Wheel’s On Fire’ for the intro!
I can’t believe that Ab-Fab will be Celebrating 20 years.
I feel OLD Sweetie,Darling:):):)
As i read this on the bus this morning i was excited. I was thinking maybe they could get the Pet Shop Boys playing Absolutely Fabulous in the last of the three specials that would be fitting. I just wonder whether they would do it and if anyone at the BBC has the balls or the imagination to call them to do it not to mention the money to ask them to do it. Still i cant wait until it s airs on the ABC.
This is Ab-Fab News.
The world needs more laughter & these two will give us heaps, sweetie:):):)
I don’t agree with the assessments of the last season.
They were all great and still stand the test of time today.
🙂
Yes last season was a bit ho-hum.
wonder if this does for Ab Fab what Back to Earth did for Red Dwarf (gives them a new season).
Can’t wait for the new specials
Though one wonders
it all got a bit boring by the last season
like they had run out of steam
lets see
Lets hope that these 3 eps restore the damage that was done with the last series & concerntrates on Eddy & Pats & not so much of Saffy & the dreaded baby storyline.Good grief.
