1. I can’t believe they have chosen to only play this in SD. I know not everyone has HD yet, but surely this program was worthy of showing simultaneously on GEM? Well they lost me, I’ll wait and buy it on Blu Ray, I’ll probably get more anyway as they will no doubt hack out sections to fit in more ads. Hope their advertisers are happy.

2. I think I’ll skip Frozen Planet in the hope that it will be shown later in HD on GEM and possibly extended too

3. Frozen Planet will be a great doco, as is most things David Attenborough does. But I still question how Nine can be showing the 2nd ep next Wednesday when it would air until some 10 hours later in the UK.

   Also I assume they won’t be showing the short 10 min ‘making off’ extra bit the BBC has on the end, making the show around 50 min long without it. But will Nine have to make further cuts for ads or will 60 Min start later tonight?

   BTW the last time the BBC had this kind of making off extra on the end of this type of doco it was South Pacific, which first aired here on the ABC. And they didn’t have the making off extra on the end. I found this out recently when BBC Knowledge aired the series with the extra 10 minutes. So Nine won’t be alone if it cuts (or doesn’t having access to) the extra content.

   Sorry for the long post David, I guess we’ll find out some more answers in the coming week.
