Rove: LA: Nov 7

This week's guests are Ty Burrell, John Krasinski and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Guests on this week’s edition of Rove: LA  are Ty Burrell (Modern Family), John Krasinski (The Office) and professional wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin.

As goofy but well-intentioned Phil Dunphy on the hit series Modern Family, Ty Burrell has become something of a patron saint for fathers everywhere. The role recently earned the Oregon native an Emmy for Best Comedic Actor, and established him as a major television star.

A late bloomer to acting, Ty reveals he had a lot of jobs he did poorly before the acting bug struck, including working as a forest fire fighter which he also did poorly at. Luckily for television viewers, Ty discovered acting which recently earned him his first Emmy and discusses the fact that he is still coming to terms with his win and has tried to find the right space in his house to place the statuette without looking like a “douchebag”. The Emmy has since found its way to the laundry room with his pile of dirty clothes.

John Krasinski is perhaps best known for his charming boy-next-door portrayal of Jim Halpert on NBC’s hit comedy The Office. Krasinski can next be seen in Ken Kwapis’ Big Miracles opposite Drew Barrymore to be released early in the new year.

John reveals his proudest moment was once being an inspiration for the City of Boston, when as a passionate Red Sox supporter the sign he held at one of the team’s playoff runs which read ‘What Curse?’ ended up as front page news in the Boston Herald and became an instant catch phrase for fans.

Stone Cold Steve Austin, a professional wrestler has been a champion in several organisations, including the WCW, the ECW and the WWE and recently hosted the reality series WWE Tough Enough. Austin has also branched out into acting, appearing in films such as The Expendables and TV shows such as Chuck.

Stone Cold Steve Austin fell in love with the sport at a young age but it wasn’t until college he decided to give up his manual labor jobs to attend Wrestling School and has since become one of the biggest names in the sport. On the road for up to 300 days a year, Steve reveals the pranks the wrestlers play on each other to get through the year and in his downtime collects antiques.

The one-hour series also provides viewers with Rove’s take on the LA way of life and serves up a weekly slice of Hollywood, taking the audience beyond the tourist traps to discover why the phrase “Only in LA” was coined.

This week Rove visits the Los Angeles Gun Club where Rove handles his first gun which prompts John Krasinski to reveal that one of his first dates with wife Emily Blunt was at a gun range which wasn’t one of his brightest ideas.

Monday, November 7 at 8.30pm AEDT on FOX8.

  1. I havn’t watched other Rove LA shows to be honest, however, decided to tune in tonight because John Krasinski was on – and I’m a big fan of The Office.

    A few observations:

This show is nothing like Rove productions in Australia – it’s just a conversational show with all celebrities being involved in all segments. And no “tv zoo format”

    Rove seemed a bit nervous

John Krasinski came across as a bit of a twat, I expected him to be just like “Jim”.

    Steve Austin was good value!
