UK performer Ed Sheeran surprised bystanders at Sydney’s Circular Quay yesterday afternoon with a free performance in the latest [V] Guerilla Gigs.

The ‘spontaneous’ performances are part of the channel’s music attacks across an unsuspecting public, teased only via their website and Facebook. So far the Guerilla Gigs have taken place across most states, including city, suburban and regional performances.

Despite a thunderstorm threatening to wash out the gig, an undeterred Ed Sheeran put on a performance that was nothing short of electric. With his debut album, ‘+’ making waves on the Australian charts, he performed a set of five songs for the crowd of 700 people which included, The A Team, Grade 8, Give Me Love and Lego House. As the indie-pop wunderkind closed the gig with You Need Me, I Don’t Need You, the storm, that had been holding off the entire performance, let loose on the crowd.
