  1. Secret Squïrrel, are you kidding? Were you expecting News24 to cross live for some random local letting off a party popper & another person’s car backfiring at midnight?

  2. Only watched some of the coverage but I’m disappointed in the local stuff. Here in QLD I checked the channels and only Nine had any coverage and it was Sydney an hour late! What doesn’t Brisbane exist any more? Not to mention Melbourne or the other capitals. Didn’t watch SkyNews most of the night but we seam to get better international coverage each hour than local stuff.

I know they can’t cover everything but if ch10s The Project can have multiply satellite links for their end of week ‘whats happening on the weekend’ segment surely Nine or the others can fire up the satellites to give us 10 minutes from each major center as their midnight comes!

I guess we’ll get a lot of people uploading clips to YouTube over the next week.

  3. Homer, Sydney City Council sell exclusive broadcast rights (usually to 9, apart from a brief ill-fated flirtation with 10) which help fund the world famous Harbour Firework display,

  4. Isn’t it a bit ridiculous that one of the most watched New Years Eve celebrations, if not the most watched, namely Sydney, also home to News 24, is not in the schedule? I realise it’s probably because the television rights are in the hands of another broadcaster but why is that so? I don’t see them signing over broadcast rights in New York or London.

  5. I know that they’re only covering the larger cities but is there nothing worth covering in Samoa who are now an hour ahead of NZ and, with Tokelau, will be the first to see in the new year?
