Jane Fonda will have a recurring role in Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming HBO drama about a fictional cable network, which has the working title of Newsroom.
Fonda, who was married to CNN boss Ted Turner, will play the CEO of the network’s parent company.
The series follows a news anchor (Jeff Daniels), his new executive producer (Emily Mortimer), the newsroom staff (Alison Pill, John Gallagher, Jr., Dev Patel, Munn and Sadoski) and their boss (Sam Waterston). The cast also includes Thomas Sadowski and Olivia Munn.
Sorkin, who wrote the acclaimed West Wing and the screenplay for The Social Network -to name a few- also created the behind the scenes series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
