Aussie actress cast in US pilot

Another Aussie has been cast in a US pilot, this time actress Daisy Betts, who appeared in Out of the Blue, Sea Patrol and Small Claims.

Betts has been cast in ABC’s drama pilot The Last Resort, which also includes Crownies Daniel Lissing.

Produced by Shawn Ryan (Lie to Me, The Shield, The Chicago Code) the drama follows a U.S. nuclear submarine crew led by Capt. Marcus Chaplin, who defies orders to fire nuclear missiles. As a result, they set up a camp on an island that is home to a NATO listening station.

Betts will play Grace Shepard, the gutsy newbie to the submarine crew who is a family friend of Chaplin (Andre Braugher).  Lissing plays a Navy SEAL and lethal killer.

It isn’t her first US drama, having already appeared in Harry’s Law and Persons Unknown.
