NRL schedule wins over Cricket
Torn between an NRL and One Day International clash on the same date, Nine sends cricket to GEM.

A clash between NRL and cricketing commitments on Friday March 2nd has left some wondering which sport Nine would screen on its primary channel.
The first-round NRL game between Parramatta and Brisbane has won out, with a match to air “live into all markets,” according to the Sydney Morning Herald (surely they don’t mean live in WA too?).
The One Day International between Australia and Sri Lanka will air Live on GEM -which means it enjoys the HD broadcast over the NRL.
The one-dayer can be seen on Nine until the NRL season begins. Delayed coverage of the remainder of the cricket will be screened on Nine after the league.
No surprises that NRL wins out here given the importance of the upcoming season and looming rights renewals.

What a shame.
Was hoping cricket would ‘win’ and stay on 9 and we would get the greatest game of all in HD.
Cricket in HD: suits me
Epic fail. Cricket is one of the few things that has rated on nine this summer and this is their choice?
I bet those south of the border won’t be seeing the football on GEM.
Slight correction: “The one-dayer can be seen on Nine until the NRL season begins”. The NRL season starts on Thursday night, but the day session of Friday’s game will still be on Nine.
Yeah I think he means live in all ‘NRL’ markets..
I’m pretty sure its just live into Syd/Bris. other markets will have live cricket. I’m actually more furious about nines decision to delay the NRL on thursday into brisbane because you know they can’t not have ACA or a big bang repeat on. And also nines decision not to have a game on sunday because of the cricket. they have 3 channels, im a fan of both sports so ill use picture in picture but to not have the game on sunday at all is ridiculous. its no wonder why people are over nines league coverage.
So Nine is seriously going to air live NRL into Melbourne, and it’s not even a Melbourne team playing? Surely the cricket would rate better in non-league states anyway.
So when they say the NRL match will be live to air “In all Markets” do they mean NSW and QLD only? With the cricket everywhere else on the main channel?
