The BBC has released its trailer for the next season of Doctor Who featuring Matt Smith.
It shows scenes from a western-themed episode as well as other adventures.
This season promises “Fourteen big, blockbuster-movie episodes” with the first to be written by Steven Moffat.
This year there will be six new episodes in the UK, Â including an exit for Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill .
Last week Jenna-Louise Coleman was named as the next companion.

I’ve loved every single minute of the Matt Smith era so far, and it’s going to get better.
@Sharpy – well there is only so much you can do with the usual UK country side, I like they are expanding and hopefully will come here one day.
The Matt Smith years have been pretty disappointing so far, marred by some dreadful writing. I hope it improves this year.
Looking forward to it! Looks like the Doctor is going back to attempt to woo an American audience again…
@Craig, rumour has it that’s when Jenna’s character will be introduced.
Lookin’ forward to it! 🙂
It looks really good! Can’t wait.
Love the promo, they always have a way of making them so exciting, including just enough to wet our appetite. But I do would have much they have already shot if the season is not set to air until late in the year.
Olso I think the xMas ep will be used to introduce the new companion, I wouldn’t be surprised if they have already shot up to there, thus the reason to introduce Jenna as she will be scene on set in the coming months.
