Three journalists from TEN and one from the ABC have been nominated for this year’s Graham Perkin Australian Journalist of the Year Award.
They are Hamish MacDonald (TEN), Hugh Riminton (TEN), Matt Moran (TEN) and ABC’s correspondent in Japan, Mark Willacy.
Riminton and Moran’s “Skype Scandal” won a Walkley Awards as well as a Australian Human Rights Commission Television and Radio Award.
AFL journalist Caroline Wilson, who appears on Nine’s Footy Classified, is also nominated as is 3AW and Sunrise regular, Neil Mitchell.
Meanwhile in two categories announced for the Melbourne Press Club’s Quill Awards, Louise Milligan of Seven News is nominated for her reports on a leading psychiatrist’s conflicts of interest because of links with a pharmaceutical company.
James Bennett of the ABC is also nominated for his marathon-like coverage of the Tour de France on radio, television and online.

It would of been good if Ten had of continued with serious current affairs. Maybe not Negus (although i am a fan) but with Hamish and Hugh, Ten could of gone somewhere with News cred. What a shame Murdoch came in and destroyed a golden opportunity.
My vote goes to Hamish MacDonald, he makes me want to watch the news! Well, the news he is reporting on anyway….
Cue some trash-talk from Nine’s David Hurley. Oh yeah, Hugh used to be with Nine wasn’t he.
Whoever wins, all four are already winners.
