Lionel Richie helped give The Voice a lift on Sunday night, but very nearly leant his talents to Seven’s Dancing with the Stars instead.
Richie wasn’t quite locked into a commitment for the Seven show when son-in-law Joel Madden insisted he front for Nine’s talent show instead. The two sang Easy together onstage for the first time on Nine
But it looks like Seven’s sales team had gone and sold airtime for Richie’s new album, Tusegee.
Seven instead had Olivia Newton John and denied that itineraries or full plans had been locked in for Richie.
Meanwhile there are whispers Nine nearly nabbed Lady Gaga and George Michael for Monday night. But pop stars are fickle animals and despite the heavy rumours, neither was locked in.
In the end it was the final 4 singers that viewers were keen to see.
Amended.

Pretty sure the album is called Tuskegee, not Tusegee
Karise didn’t need much production at all to nab the win but
It would have been nice for Nine to lock in Lady Gaga to take advantage of the ‘production’ that The Voice stage has been capable of the past few weeks
Yes it was the final 4 viewers, lol
Give me Barnsey over Lady GooGoo any day.
Could have done without him anyway, the duet was woeful.
Lionel, Olivia, Barnes… There people are considered draw cards in Australia? That’s embarrassing.
I am sure Lionel Richie gave the voice a boost. Give me a break!
In other words ch9 wanted Gaga but had to settle for Jimmy Barnes
