MasterChef thumps Australia’s Got Talent, The Voice (US).

Ratings: It looks like viewers won't be swayed from the MasterChef kitchen/s in its final weeks with the show thumping the opposition in the early evenings.

With The Block gone and too many having missed early episodes of Australia’s Got Talent because of The Voice, they are now locked onto TEN’s reality cook-off. Last night it pulled 1.33m viewers while AGT was 918,000 and The Voice US slipped further to 584,000.

Seven won the night with 29.3% to TEN 26.2%, Nine 19.9%, ABC 15.2% and SBS impressed with a very strong 9.3%.

Seven News was 1.28m for Seven followed by Mrs Brown’s Boys (preliminary figure of 1.1m) -but the show began 20 minutes late. Today Tonight was 1.07m, Home and Away (946,000), Australia’s Got Talent (preliminary 918,000), Deal or No Deal (597,000), Smugglers (362,000).

Aside from Masterchef (1.33m) TEN pulled an impressive 1.09m for Offspring‘s romantic finale. TEN News was 698,000, The Project 6pm was 491,000 and House was 446,000.

Nine News was 1.15m, then ACA (982,000), Hot Seat (657,000), The Voice US (584,000), The Mentalist (437,000). Tricky Business had its lowest ever audience on 311,000.

  1. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed this series of Offspring, I am very worried that the happy ending across the board is a real sign a fourth series won’t be produced.

    Fingers crossed it comes back.

  2. David was Life’s Too Short figures hard to find again?

I just want to belatedly agree with kats yesterday and thank Seven for Once Upon A Time being on Tuesday 7.30pm and hope it stays there.

Lastly I agree with those that praise Simon Reeve’s documentary on SBS. Just excellent.

  3. Nine still can’t take a trick with local drama apart from the tiresome Underbelly franchise. Tricky Business won’t be renewed, it is this year’s Cops LAC and like that show, it’s first series will be its last.

  4. Good news for Masterchef. But where would TEN be without it?

I can’t believe the lack of promotion for Breakfast. I have never seen one (launch excepted). Many people would not even know it exists. Ten with the Late News is offering news morning to night unlike any other commercial network – Why are they not promoting this. Maybe they blew there news promo budget last year with George N.

  5. The offspring season final was so dam good! I was waiting for something to go wrong in the end but it all ended up great! Bring on next season:)

  6. Tricky Business would be doing well if it had been in a decent slot all along.

RE: Offspring – I’m glad it only has 13 eps per season – means better quality writing – not dragging storylines out to fill a full series. More Australian series should be short and sweet like Offspring – leaves you wanting more!

  7. It’s clear Nine really should have kept Celebrity Apprentice in the volt and strip it across 5 nights a week over 3 weeks like they did last year.

And unless Seal and Keith are persuaded to join the cast… there is no hope for season 2 of Tricky Business

  8. Those are some good Offspring numbers. Too bad it’s only 13 episodes a season because the wait for the next season (I hope?) will be excruciating.

  9. Tricky Business is getting the ratings it deserves – sorry but it’s crap.

So pleased to see Offspring pull the numbers it deserves – great writing, acting, soundtrack, beautifully shot. If only more Sydneysiders would embrace it, it’d be over a million each and every week.

Can’t believe Nine had nothing ready to go to continue the momentum they had with The Block. They should’ve found a way to own the 7pm slot right up until the Olympics. Very bad planning but good news for Ten and Masterchef

  10. Looks like The Voice US is not being heard and Tricky Business will not be long for this world, do they have 13 or 22 eps. Did some checking, TB actually started about 5 minutes early at about 9:25, that can’t help its ratings either when viewers want to switch from one channel to another, it overlapped Offspring by almost 15 minutes last night.

Good on MC finally getting the viewers it deserves and Offspring had a great final, hope they come back for more.

  11. Pleased with Offspring’s ratings. It’s a show that has just gotten better as the season has gone on. You’d imagine it’d be back for a fourth given the momentum behind it on the back half of this season.

  12. I don’t watch 9 a lot so I had no idea that there was Another edition of The Voice on, so tuned in for Episodes as per The Age Green Guide time – nope, it was on way later. Ditto RPA last night. It must be infuriating for the ‘paper’ guides to be continually wrong when all networks (except the ABC and SBS) change their programming at the drop of a hat.

What’s the purpose of this when half your potential audience doesn’t know about these changes. All it achieves is giving people the shits. May 9’s ratings plummet. Serves them right.

  13. Once again Simon Reeve’s Indian Ocean doco travelogue was quite superb, finishing off here in Oz.

He seems to have the ability to raise environmental concerns very effectively and for me highlights how bad our so called Green Party is…

  14. Congratulations Ch9 Your programmers are a disgrace! You have effectively killed Tricky Business with it’s launch in a transient 9:30 timeslot, then an early slot on the hour and then hidden in a late timeslot on another night! Canal Road suffered a similar fate launching in a 9:30 timeslot & was moved later then yanked off mid run!
Don’t get me started on the appalling treatment US shows Harry’s Law has had, at least it the final eps are airing! As for CSI Miami it has had more timeslots than I can imagine! Cut mid season and peppered with repeats! N

  15. Tricky Business’s low rating due to its continuous change in time slot (counting all the late starts) and now on a new day. Plus I didn’t see any advertising for it this week. I expect The Voice US to be on GO! as of next week bumping either Top Gear or Braniac.
