Spoiler: What’s in store for Season 2 of American Horror Story?

As has previously been reported, it sheds major cast members and relocates to a new setting.

The series will be set at an East Coast mental institution for the criminally insane in the 1960s and feature returning cast members portraying completely different characters from their Season 1 roles.

“We picked Asylum because it not only describes the setting — an insane asylum run by Jessica Lange’s character which was formerly a tuberculosis ward — but also signifies a place of haven for the unloved and the unwanted,” creator Ryan Murphy said. “This year’s theme is about sanity and tackling real-life horrors.”

Points for thinking outside the square…

Jessica Lange will return to play a nun and be joined by Season 1 stars Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Evan Peters and Zachary Quinto, as well as new faces James Cromwell, Joseph Fiennes, Adam Levine (pictured), Chloe Sevigny, Clea Duvall and Jenna Dewan, among others.

It returns in the US in October.

  1. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Adam Levine’s character only lasted a handful of episodes. The guy has a very busy schedule, filming for the new season of The Voice US and recording a new album with Maroon 5.

  2. I can’t wait for this. One of the best new shows of last year, and Jessica Lange was brilliant. It will be very interesting to see her and the other actors from S1 playing different roles. Also looking forward to seeing Adam Levine on S2.
