Tractor Monkeys, new ABC panel show coming…

What are Tractor Monkeys and just what do the Spicks and Specks team plan to do with them?

TV Tonight hears the ABC is soon to film a new panel show by some of the Spicks and Specks creative team.

To be known as Tractor Monkeys, the series will draw upon comedians and clips, and is set to film a short run at ABC’s Ripponlea studios.

While the show remains under wraps so far no host has been annointed.

But what does it all mean?

TV Tonight can’t help but wonder if the title pertains to an incident in 1966 in Melbourne when a tractor-driving monkey named Johnnie went missing from a car outside GTV9 in Richmond when he was due to make an appearance on the quiz show Guessing Game. The Age then reported that Johnnie led authorities on a wild goose, er monkey, chase through Richmond before eventually being nabbed behind a shed by some trusty locals.

Then again, nobody is suggesting the title is meant to be taken literally. A tractor monkey is also a wrench….

Regardless, could Tractor Monkeys be the answer to ABC’s Wednesday line-up for 2013? After a disappointing reception to Randling, it isn’t known whether the show will return next year.

Stay tuned.

  1. Could be interesting or not. I hope the former. But why not next year have Mad as Hell on sometime after 8.30pm on Wednesdays i.e. 8.30pm or 9pm or 9.30pm. As it’s a good show that deserves to be on Wednesday. But I hope they keep the Saturday repeats in case of power outage or the like. Including the At The Movies pairing. Loved that.

    @ Dr Rudi

I’m not liking the 9pm shows except for the Chasers and maybe John Clarke.

  2. Wednesday night 2013?

    8.30 Gruen Planet / Nation

    9.00 Lowdown S3 / Librarians S4 / other Hope/Butler project / Chaser-Hamster / other Lilley project / Laid S3 / other John Clarke project / Chatty Man /

    9.30 At The Movies

    Mark Scott, you’re welcome.

  3. Sorry

Sucked me in with the “Spicks and Specks” reference.

No time for Tractor monkeys however would be interested in a revival of S&S

While I enjoyed Adam Myf and Alan – They were not the show – and could have replaced – we have no end of talent here to choose from.

    Listening ? ABC ?
