Gretel Killeen hosts a documentary on the story of The Wiggles on BIO. But will it tell all?

If you are a Wiggles tragic (and I’m not) then this could be one for you.

Gretel Killeen hosts a documentary that looks at the life of this global phenomenon. Whilst their success is exceptional there have also been some chapters that we’ve heard about being darker, stories of conflict, wealth amassed and badly-handled publicity events. Wonder if they will get a look in too?

As the original Wiggles hand over their skivvies to the next generation of star entertainers, Foxtel’s Bio channel is exclusively premiering Everybody Clap! Everybody Sing! a local production taking a look back at the first 21 years of The Wiggles at 8.30pm on Monday, December 10, 2012.

Everybody Clap! Everybody Sing! is a one hour documentary, hosted and narrated by Gretel Killeen, explaining the story of The Wiggles’ phenomenal success.

The Wiggles encapsulate so much of what kids enjoy, their musical style revolutionised children’s entertainment and has kept kids enthralled for over two decades. The Wiggles have sold over 23 million videos and DVDs, seven million CDs and six million books. They averaged a million ticket sales per year to their concerts, once selling out 12 shows at Madison Square Garden Theatre – there’s even a Wiggles theme park!

In Everybody Clap! Everybody Sing! the viewer sees where this amazing adventure began, starting out in suburban Sydney and following the group’s journey from university days to the years of touring around Australia and their groundbreaking global success. At the core of all their success was the coming together of their musical and educational background, which saw Anthony Field’s simple idea bloom into an accomplishment of historical proportions.

During this documentary you‘ll hear from TV, music and movie stars who love The Wiggles, journalists and The Wiggles themselves about the highs and lows of this amazing experience including their decision to tour New York just weeks after the 9/11 attacks, the emotional departure – and return – of their original singer. Also learn about their decision to retire three of the original Wiggles and to re-launch with fresh faces continuing their dedication to children’s entertainment.

So tune in to Bio for Everybody Clap! Everybody Sing! at 8.30pm on Monday, December 10 to celebrate with the millions of people around the world who enjoy The Wiggles’ songs and stories.

  1. The impression of Anthony is of a very ambitious (some unkind people may say “ruthless”) person. When the group announced its retirement recently, it was clear he was being pushed into it by the other three.

  2. Sounds like an updated version of the documentary with the same title included on one of their DVDs a couple of years back. It was also narrated by Gretel. It was released just prior to the return of Greg, so that would be the subject of the new material.
