American Horror Story has been renewed for a third season.

The anthology series from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk will return with 13 episodes, including with star Jessica Lange.

Featuring a new story, location and cast of characters, including with several actors returning in different roles, the second season is up 19 percent compared with its first season. Once again many of the actors will return in different roles next year.

FX president and GM John Landgraf said, “With American Horror Story: Asylum, Ryan and Brad have raised the bar in every way from Murder House, the first American Horror Story miniseries.

“And their original idea – the notion of doing an anthological series of miniseries with a repertory cast – has proven groundbreaking, wildly successful and will prove to be trendsetting. We can’t wait to see what deviously brilliant ideas they come up with for their third miniseries.”

A new title for the third instalment unannounced.

ELEVEN is yet to reveal a premiere date for its second season.

  1. @Aaron I was the other way around, as before Glee Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk did Nip/Tuck together so Glee took me by surprise; so glad they are doing American Horror Story as well now.

  2. Fantastic news! I love this show.. well, I love Jessica Lange more than anything, but the show is fantastic as well. I’m really enjoying season two and now can’t wait for the third season!

  3. The second season starts off a bit dull and boring, but a few episodes in the twists and turns start, and keep coming … love the same actors / different roles method – works well.

Hard to believe the brains from Glee came up with something so dark and thrilling!

  4. And why Eleven is yet to reveal a premiere date for the 2nd season i just don’t understand. This season has been awesome, the last ep was a cracker, and it’s great seeing returning cast in completely new roles. It’s been rating brilliantly in the US and was always gonna get a renewal. This is one of the shows that should have been fast tracked.
