TEN has chosen the non-ratings period to unveil a new set in Perth.
Narelda Jacobs, now hosting solo without Craig Smart, fronted the 5pm bulletin yesterday.
The new look includes a more dynamic cityscape backdrop and extra screens.
With so many faces exiting the network last week, it’s a shame there aren’t more there to enjoy it.

Narelda, tim and michael are the best news team out there! Every night we see their personalities come across with a few laughs together which is why i like them so much
Narelda and the Ten 5pm news are my comfort zone. Imo, the best program on Ten. So what does it say when a ‘fan’ of this program doesn’t recognize there has been a set change? Simple, scenery counts for squat. Same same with PR spin highlighting ‘new direction in quality’, ‘reconnecting with our viewers’, ‘a fresh approach’.
Keep your presenters, fire your managers, reduce the remuneration of the board and stop treating the audience like fools and Ten might see a lift in ratings. Set changes are trivial at best and indicative of panic at worst.
I don’t think whether it’s ratings or not makes much diff to Ten in absolute numbers right now.
It looks just like The Project. Suppose brand consistency makes for successful marketing.
Ten Melbourne it appears has updated its news set too
