Boy – Premieres Saturday 9 February, 9.30pm on SBS ONE
Boy is the hilarious and heartfelt coming-of-age tale about heroes, magic and Michael Jackson. Set on the rural East Coast of New Zealand in 1984, Boy (James Rolleston) is an 11 year old dreamer who loves Michael Jackson. Boy’s other hero, his father, Alamein (Taika Waititi), is the subject of Boy’s fantasies, and he imagines him as a deep sea diver, war hero and a close relation of Michael Jackson. In reality he’s in gaol for robbery. When Alamein returns home after 7 years away, Boy is forced to confront the man he thought he remembered, find his own potential, and learn to get along without the hero he had been hoping for.

An Education – Premieres Saturday 16 February, 9.30pm on SBS ONE
In the post war, pre-Beatles London suburbs a bright 16-year-old schoolgirl, Jenny (Carey Mulligan) is torn between studying for a place at Oxford and the more exciting alternative offered to her when she meets the charismatic 30-something David (Peter Sarguard). David introduces Jenny to a glittery new world of classical concerts and late night suppers in this coming of age tale. Directed by Lone Scherfig, and based on the memoir by Lynn Barber and written by Nick Hornby (About a Boy, High Fidelity), An Education is a morality tale that often plays like high comedy largely because of Mulligan’s BAFTA award-winning performance as the wonderfully smart, yet perilously tender, Jenny.

Heartbreaker – Premieres Saturday 2 March, 9.30pm on SBS ONE
Heartbreaker is a hilarious, action-packed romantic comedy starring two of the biggest names in French cinema: Romain Duris (The Spanish Apartment) and Vanessa Paradis (Café de Flore). Charming, funny and effortlessly cool Alex (Duris) is a professional heartbreaker and for a fee he can turn any husband, fiancé or boyfriend into an ex. Alex only has one rule: he only breaks up relationships where the woman is unhappy. Alex is hired by a rich father to break up the beautiful heiress Juliette (Paradis) who is set to marry the man of her dreams in ten days. Alex risks being caught by ruthless personal creditors, angry exes and the fiercely independent Juliette as he puts his own rule to the test and discovers that when it comes to love, maybe the perfect plan doesn’t exist.
