abclogo2ABC TV head of publicity Lesna Thomas is set to leave the broadcaster after 14 years, following a restructuring of the marketing team.

The ABC said in a statement to media and marketing website Mumbrella:
“ABC TV have recently conducted a review of the TV Publicity department. With the rise of digital media platforms, along with the significant changes within the Australian media industry, it is an important time for ABC TV Publicity to assess and adapt our focus.

“As a result, the TV Publicity Manager position, held by Lesna Thomas, is potentially affected.

“As ABC Television Publicity Manager, Lesna has been critical to the success of ABC TV for over a decade. Lesna has not only managed the publicity for all of our television programs and on-air personalities but she has managed the communication around the growth of our brands – seeing ABC TV expand from one analogue channel to our multi-channel offering of today.

“Lesna’s knowledge professionalism and dedication is greatly valued.”

During her time, Thomas has overseen significant change with multichannels, iView, channel controllers and upheavals in the world of print media. Some of ABC’s steps to showcase their content to journalists have been particularly innovative.

The move is still subject to consultancy.
