F1 drives TEN’s night but Nine takes the flag
Ratings: A healthy TEN performance meant Nine and Seven had to battle out Sunday to the very last share point.

Sunday was a big pitch night for TEN with the F1 Grand Prix, The Biggest Loser launch and MasterChef finale.
That combo put the network back where it belongs, in third place above the 20% shares.
While the sporting event drove big numbers to the network, Biggest Loser nonetheless had tough competition from The Block while Masterchef competed with Downton Abbey.
As a result Nine and Seven battled it out to the last share point. But this is exactly what a competitive TEN should bring us, rather than allowing another to walk away with the night.
Nine network shares were 28.3% then Seven 28.2%, TEN 23.4%, ABC 16.2% and SBS 3.9%.
The Block: All Stars was #1 with 1.57m for Nine followed by 60 Minutes (1.23m), Nine News (1.09m), The Mentalist (618,000) and CSI (434,000).
Downton Abbey (1.28m) topped Seven followed by The Force (1.19m), Seven News (1.15m), Sunday Night (1.08m), Border Security (1.02m) and Castle (485,000 / 268,000).
FIA Formula One averaged an impressive 1.23m race / 821,000 pre-race / 596,000 race day for TEN. Those numbers were down on 2012’s race (1.4m / 897,000 / 514,000) but were good for the current TEN climate. MasterChef: The Professionals finished with 1.02m for the winner announced / 980,000 finale. But The Biggest Loser dipped in between two bookends averaging 815,000 for its launch. Graham Norton took 390,000.
David Attenborough’s Galapagos (947,000 / 867,000 Making of) was best on ABC1 then ABC News (876,000), Midsomer Murders (826,000), Compass (321,000) and Rev (255,000).
On SBS ONE it was History Cold Case (220,000), World News Australia (198,000), The Pluto Files (135,000) and Lucky (70,000).
Big Bang Theory on GO! led multichannels with 260,000.
Weekend Sunrise: 319,000
Weekend Today 308,000
Weekend Breakfast: 44,000
OzTAM Overnights: Sunday 17 March 2013

David, I believe it’s another 2 years away unless if the Govt changes it when we get to see TEN etc in HD
Time to save up and replace my SD PVR with HD.
Would like to thanks ten for showing the telecast for most of the day in HD on one. So nice to see a major sport in HD on free to air tv again. The way it should be !! Does anybody know what the future is for 2014 when the analogue system is off nationwide. Will primary channels go HD?????
That is the plan. Not sure how immediate it will be.
@naca
You can go beyond 2hrs of racing just like 2011 Canada and 2012 Malaysia but you can’t for Singapore as it is a timed race. It will be interesting to see how Malaysia unfolds as just before the race it rains heavily. Agreed about SC but who knows next year could even be more SC periods, heavy rain and red flags.
Very bad move to only air TBL for three nights.
Who wants to bet they’ll eventually air TBL for more than 3 nights later on?
Intervews and the trophy was on channel ONE when TEN went to Biggest Loser
In yesterdays biggest loser at the very least she should have been at the 3000 odd gathering where contestants made their pledges. That part really looked like it needed a host.
Hayley is on weigh in , elimination and challange day so really she is there alot.
I enjoyed The Biggest Loser last night. I wish it was on Wednesdays and Thursdays as well.
As far as i know the biggest loser doesn;t play in wed thur or fri this yr?? If this is the case then Ten has made a major mistake!! The biggest loser should atleast be sun-thur because they have the footage and it;s a good lead in for shows during the week.
Ten launch a new show and have a finale of another, and they still only can get third place? Seriously.
Channel 10 where very lucky there weren’t any safety cars or significant levels of precipitation during the race. If I was doing the scheduling I would have ended the coverage on 10 at 7pm (given that a gp is time limited to 2 hours of racing and they couldn’t go past about that anyway if it was stopped due to light constraints)and I’m sure they would have kept with the race until it finished and then do the podium interviews and the like, which would have meant a finish of around 7:15pm.
I loved the Masterchef finale and thought Biggest Loser had a decent launch. I understand the decision to leave Hayley until the house – she’s there to act as independent MC to the ‘game’ parts of the show, while the trainers act as mentors in a way the judges don’t in MC.
@ David Knox if you didnt have a host who would do the eliminations? The trainers wouldnt………….
I’m being cynical. I don’t know why TBL has a host when they give her so little to do and she is so far down on the priority list. Otherwise do as MasterChef did and ditch the host and have trainers host.
Weekend Breakfast is ABC News 24.
What’s Weekend Breakfast? I thought Breakfast has been cancelled?
I was also impressed Ten seemed to keep to their 6.45 finish for the F1. I did not think that was happening!!
I think the biggest loser is way past its prime…..
I enjoyed The Biggest Loser last night. I’ll be watching this season. Haven’t really watched it much in the past so the appearance of Haley Lewis when the contestants eventually entered the house didn’t seem that strange to me. Like she was there to welcome them. I’m glad she’s still in it.
Watched the biggest loser and thought it was a little strange that Hayley Lewis the host only showed up at the end of the episode.
Well she is nowhere in the promos. Why have her at all?
The Biggest Loser has promise this year, but during the week I’d prefer to watch people eating food, rather than refraining. MKR is King!
