2013-04-18_0206On Saturday night Ricky Gervais stars in Funny As, ABC2’s new dose of stand up comedy by local and international comedians.

The season will feature a mix of new and classic stand up including performances by Alan Carr, Simon Amstell, Wil Anderson, Eddie Izzard, Dara O’Briain plus many more.

The season kicks off with Ricky Gervais performing his third live show, Fame. Mining comedy gold from his celebrity and the resulting complications that occurred, Gervais’s Fame became the fastest selling comedy tour in British history.

9:30pm Saturday, 20 April ABC2.

  1. My suspicions have been borne out. The Ricky Gervais show was “Fame” from 2006 – 7 years ago! It’s been on TV before altho’ it might have been with the Ten Network. Don’t think I’ll bother with the others.

  2. Gervais/Merchant as a team have produced some excellent stuff

    but I find whenever Gervais writes his own material it is the same jokes over and over again. Was funny in Politics/Animals but Fame is just really poor

  3. @Brekkie – I was going to say the same about Alan Carr. Now, if it was Jimmy Carr…

    I presume that this isn’t an actual series as such but rather a string of unrelated performances that are being broadcast under a single banner?
